Hy I have a Aspire 7730G and in C2D P8400 - 2,26Ghz , 1066FSB , 3MB l2, I was trying to overclock it with setFSB but setFSB dont have full support for my mb (so I have a problem after overclocking when I try restart it freez after restart and I have to shut it down on a buton), so please if anyone know program for oc my P8400 post...yes also my chipset is Intel PM45....

As you have already stated ACER use locked BIOS's so you cant do any FSB overclocking there. As for software Overclocking, from what is mentioned around the forum its not as good. If you do, however overclock with the software setup, make sure you keep an eye on the temps. Ive never known an Aspire to have overly great CPU cooling on it. Im sorry I cant help you with what program to use to overclock it, but id suggest maybe if you can afford it to get a aftermarket MB and CPU cooler and then you will have an unlocked BIOS.

I would say that personally my opinion is that 90*C is way to hot to be running that CPU @. I would not be overclocking it with the current cooler. It may even be worth removing the old cooler and applying some new thermal compount and reattaching it. My E8500 @ 3.8Ghz only runs at a Max of 60*C after 4 Hours of stress testing.

no 90 C is quite normal temp. while using ORTHOS (full stress on both cores) for half hour and you have to think about that i have laptop, and of corse if I just rize GHz without rizing Voltage themp. would stay the same....an jou have a desk with E8500 oc and you probably rize and Ghz and Voltage so that temp is 60....
Oh Sorry I should have read it abit better I didnt catch the P part. Yeah ok Laptop well that makes more sence but damm, that is still hot. Cant say ive ever heard of anyone even overclocking a laptop. Cooling just flat out sucks on em. I run 3.8 @ stock 1.25v.
