I wonder if setting up a larger spare area will have an effect on the ssd's life span.
I set up a 20GB spare area for my 128GB Samsung 830 o/s boot ssd.
CrystalDiskInfo shows that 1.10TB has been written to my ssd in four months.

Loading OPTIMIZED bios defaults is REQUIRED before you tweak your bios settings.
This includes new system setups and immediately after flashing your bios!!!
