  • Applying Artic Silver?

The Instructions say To apply a thin layer inside the Red Square(see Pic).
Is this what others are doing?
The Heat Sinc Obviously sits over more then just that area, would it help or hurt to spread Artic Silver beyond the red box?

Stick with what the diagram shows you. Anything else will do nothing more than make a mess. The other portions of the processor are set lower than the core (the area in the red square), so will not make contact with the heatsink. The reason that it is so much larger than the processor core is so that the heat can spread out through the metal and then be removed by the fan blowing down on it.

about the thickness of a playing card. So I cut out a template and level the compound with a razor blade. Seems to give me good contact and a pretty foot print on the hs. As far as apllication method, I like the ye old pinky and cleanup-excess removal tooth picks and cotton w/ rubbing alcohol. GL
