  • Windows 8.x Defrag Problem With Raid0 Hard Drives

Is anyone on windows 8 or 8.1 able to use the windows defrag tool to optimize when they have the latest rst drivers installed ? ....seems that if you have a raid ...windows detects it as ssd drive with the new rst drivers. Am I the only one or is wide spread ?

have no idea why its moved here ...its not windows at fault here ....its the new intel rst 13 series drivers ...all of them .... if your using raid with HDDS and the 13 series drivers ....the driver thinks that its an ssd ...so no defrag programs work

Well that's a switch, in the past Windows 8 when used with some IRST drivers "saw" RAID 0 arrays of SSDs as HDDs, and would not Optimize/TRIM them. OTOH, while the Win 8 Optimizer saw the SSDs in RAID 0 as HDDs, it would still optimize them sometimes, rather than defrag them.

Which IRST version 13 driver are you using and where did you get it? Intel does not have one posted on their download pages. You can get one from the early posts of some Z97 boards... like I did...

So now you're saying if you click Optimize on you HDD RAID 0 array, it does not run a defrag?
