I am putting together a HTPC with the following components:

    1) mobo: GA-F2A88XM-D3H latest F6 bios
    2) cpu: A10-6800K
    3 heatsink fan: Scythe-Big Shuriken 2 rev.b
    4) memory: patriot viper low profile ddr3-1866mhz 1.5v
    5) SSD: Crucial m4 128gb ssd
    6) case: silverstone SG02-F Sugo case
    7) PSU; corsair hx750hx
    8) Asus dvdr

Problem: I can`t seem to undervolt the cpu in the bios. I can overvolt but can`t seem to undervolt. Using pge up one can go from auto to normal to + whatever voltage increments to the vid, but when using pge dwn, nothing. I tried to manual enter the voltage but it won`t stick and save.

What am I missing here. I appreciate any assistance.

Re: GA-F2A88XM-D3H and A10-6800K undervolting problems

you set cpu voltage to normal then dvid unlocks so you can adjust it,then you shouldbe able to use a negative offset/dvid amount to undervolt the cpu so -0.005v and so on

also use a lower loadline calibration level if you have the option

Re: GA-F2A88XM-D3H and A10-6800K undervolting problems

Thanks for your post wazza300. What you suggested doesn't work. I can scroll cpu vcore from auto to normal to + offsets, but there is no - offsets. Even when I tried to set cpu vcore to nomal, save the settings and then tried to use negative offsets, there is no negative offset available. This is very strange. I have turbo boost and turbo disabled so that the auto vcore dropped from 1.35v to 1.248v, which helped to drop temps down tremendously, but I want to be able to have the option to further reduce vcore but am unsuccessful at it.

I can change vcore loadline calibration and nbvid's loadline calibration, but can't use negative voltage offsets for cpu and for nb for that matter. This is very strange.

Re: GA-F2A88XM-D3H and A10-6800K undervolting problems

I have tried it with bios version f5 and the latest f6. I haven't tried it with prior versions. I have a feeling it is a quirk with the bios and this mobo and cpu combination, which sucks for me. I kinda regret not getting the Asus mobo equivalent but I am not giving up on this.

I am just wondering if other people with this gigabyte mobo have experienced the same thing.

          all the best.

I would contact gigabyte and tell them, they might be able to send you a custom bios with negative offset included so you can undervolt the cpu

Re: GA-F2A88XM-D3H and A10-6800K undervolting problems

Thanks for your post wazza. I may just have to do that. I had google searched this before posting this thread and I recall reading about a review of this board (I tried to find it again, but wasn't able to), and the reviewer also had mentioned the inability to use negative offsets on this mobo. Rather disappointing because I have had pretty good results with my other three, yet older gigabyte boards. For my last three builds I have been using asus boards but I wanted to go back to gigabyte for this htpc build. I am not giving up though.

              all the best.

So, I got a reply from gigabyte support and the response is there are no options to undervolt the cpu. Very disappointing to say that least.
