  • How to locate lost bar code scan gun?

    Hi Everyone,

This is a bit of an 'odd ball' question that relates to a barcode scanner that is lost at my work. The scanner is a CK3XAA4M000W4100: Intermec CK3X Handheld Computer INT-CK3XAA4M000W4100 - Barcode Discount and it operates through Wi-Fi.

My question(s) are actually two part -

1). Is it possible to triangulate the location of a Wi-Fi device using software? If so what software do you recommend?

2). Are there any 'industrial strength' infra red / bluetooth / wi-fi locators available that you can recommend? The idea being here that I will stick a physical locator onto each of the remaining scan guns in our fleet. If one of those guns get lost I will be able to find it. I am thinking along the lines of the 'car key locator' kind of device.

Any help with any of the above will be greatly appreciated.

    Kind Regards,

    Davo

Maybe something like this radio frequency locator would work in the future for lost or misplaced items:

Amazon.com: Click n Dig Key Finder Wireless RF Item Locator Remote Control, Pet, Wallet, Keyfinder-Free Extra Batteries: Electronics
    • Total 4 Receivers Included. 2 Key ring receivers, 2 Thin plates (for wallets etc.) receivers
    • 1 Radio transmitter with 4 colored buttons. Double sided adhesive tape included (for sticking the receivers to remote controls or cell phone etc.)
    • All batteries included. Plus Free Extra Complete Set of Batteries in each pack!
    • Full 12 Month Warranty on the product, including the batteries. Our product is FCC certified.
    • Radio frequency penetrates walls, cusions, leather etc. So the receivers beep from the other side of the walls, or when hidden deep in the couch or sofa pillows.
