    Hello,
    I have a g31m-vs2 motherboard.
Just upgraded to kingston v300 120GB ssd drive and now my computer crashes while starting, viewing videos.

Is there any incompatibilities with SSD Drives ?

    TIA

Your SSD is your Windows drive?

If so, did you install Windows 7 again on it, or did you copy/clone from your other OS drive?

Your SSD should work with your board's SATA chipset, what SATA mode are you using, IDE or AHCI, if you have AHCI?

Is your V300 new? Older versions may have old firmware that had problems.

      1. My ssd is the main drive (c:)
      2. I used the kingston ssd now utility to clone the old drive (seagate hdd).
      3. There is no ahci setup on G31M-VS2
      4. V300 is new and has the latest firmware version

      Thanks in advance

As long as you cloned a Windows installation done on that board, you should be fine.

Sometimes cloning software does not work perfectly.

Try this, from a Windows CMD prompt window, type in: sfc /scannow

That is a Windows command that will check all the OS files for problems, and fix them. Sometimes it cannot fix everything, and will tell you if it failed to fix something.

You could also try a different or new SATA data cable, since those cables can be bad and we can't tell by looking at them.

I solved the problem. It is the power supply. Use one power cable exclusively for the ssd. the rest is shared.
In the bios just to make sure disabled 32 bit data transfer and block mode, which is not supported by the kingston ssd drive.
Let the computer ON for 48 hrs. Every thing is fine now.
