  • Asrock z97 Extreme4 mic + pci-e x1 problem

    Mobo: Asrock Z97 Extreme4
    OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit
Bios: 1.50 (installed because i thought it might fix pci-e problems.)

Hey. I got my board like 2-3 weeks ago and last week i went to skype talking with my friend and he barely heard me. I tried all microphone boosts, levels, everything from windows settings. I installed drivers again like 10 times. First v.7004 from motherboards page. Latest from Realtek site... None of them worked. It can't be driver problem thats 100% sure.

I tried with 2 different headsets (SteelSeries Siberia V2 / Logitech G230) and both same thing low microphone volume. With my old system i didn't have this problem.

Windows Microphone Settings = http://i.imgur.com/VCWH4Kr.png <- Same 100 + 30db boost in Realtek HD Audio Manager.
Tried turning HD audio auto/enable from bios and it didn't help.
Tried changing Realtek HD Audio manager settings.
Tried front jacks, same problem. Disabled front jacks still same.
    Windows troubleshoots, nothing.
Tried Windows Set up a Microphone, didn't help.
Tried changing privacy options for Microphone, nothing.

Also i have problem with my PCI-E 1x slots. None of them doesn't recognize my Wifi adapters. ASUS PCE-N53 and TP-Link TL-WN881ND <- Tried with installing drivers before/after installing those. They do work with my old system... All PCI-E 1x slots same thing, but they do work with x16 slot. When i installed Asus PCE-N53 drivers it didn't install their software... (tried from cd and their site...) Box says it supports win 8.

I don't know what i should do, but i think this motherboard is broken. I bought it from Mindfactory.de and it was 3 weeks ago. I have now "wasted" like 30 hours for this... What i should do? I can't live with this. Any tips?

    Dear Aletzr,

About microphone volume we provide some suggestion for verify:
(1)Please also check microphone software volume(skype) have been adjusted.
(2)Try to record sound for test and check volume.
(3)Test on other software for verify volume.

Regard of PCIEx1 LAN card, we don’t have these two card in our lab.
But we will try to check the symptom.
Please enter to BIOS>Tools and check whether "System browser" can detect the card.
If any update we will inform to you

    Thanks for your reply.

Same problem here, with the same wireless adapter TP-Link TL-WN881ND. Have you solved in the meantime?
