  • Deleted driver software

I'm using ASUS N550JV with Windows 8.1. So i was having problem with my internet connection. The wifi was connected, but there was "Limited" sign on it and i haven't connected to internet for days. With some help from a friend, i went to device manager to uninstall "Qualcomm Atheros AR946x Wireless Network Adapter". Before uninstalling, there was a box to "delete the driver software for the device" and i checked it. Turned out i shouldn't have checked the box. Now that i have deleted the driver software, nothing changes when i clicked scan for hardware changes.I tried downloaded the driver from ASUS website and copied it through a flashdisk. I clicked on the downloaded setup.exe but i can't find the installed file. There was a "Qualcomm Atheros" folder on my C:/Program File, there's nothing inside but an icon file.Do you have any solution about the deleted driver software? Thanks a lot

    Re: Deleted driver software

    Welcome to the forum.

A web search using: Atheros AR946x Wireless driver provides links to several download sites.

Be careful, some of these sites want you to first download some of their software. DON'T!! I don't trust sites that want you to download any of their "special" software before you can download the files that you want.

I've used an unofficial Atheros Czech website (<cite class="_Rm">atheros.cz/?</cite>) for years and had no problems but tonight my connection to them timed out.

    https://www.atheros-drivers.com/
is a different site that looks similar to the Czech site and this "newer" site claims to be an unofficial Atheros website, but I haven't seen them before. Hopefully this newer site is legitimate.

My anti-virus software says "No information on website safety (according to Kaspersky Lab reputation service)" so it might be OK.

Good luck, let us know how you make out and which site you used to download the drivers.
