  • 500$ for an ATI 9700 Pro No Kiddin'

Can anybody tell me who the heck is responsible for these monstrous european prices. Here are some prices for graphics cards in Deutschland. I damn whichever gov't or corpr'tn responsible for this rip off.
Sapphire Radeon 9700 Pro for 482 euro approx 500$
Atý Radeon 9700 for 384 euro approx 400$
Xelo Radeon 9500 Pro for 295 euro approx 310$
    average 128mb Ti4200 for 250 euro
    average 128mb ti4600 for 425 euro
and all this in a country where ADSL and ISDN is cheap and plenty as water so like 65-70 percent or more use broadband.
so i had to ask my friend in NYU to get me un 9700 pro from the States this summer.

any idea how these prices rise so much suicide
it can't be the shipment right if so the card must weigh 50 pounds or so and beamed in to my PC.

Aside from exchange rate differences and freight costs, it's basically demand and supply my friend.

There must be a relatively limited supply of these cards there and the demand must be high (which is understandable). Sellers can obviously charge a premium because of that, hence the high price.
