Yes the X58A-OC has the Marvell 9182 controller vs the older Marvell 9128 controller.

The other thing I noticed after seeing all these other post lately about SSD's and Marvell ports. My Marvell ports in AHCI mode do not show up in device manager with MS drivers installed. I have not installed the marvell utility or anything, just straight windows 7 install on the ssd.

its a good job you switched mb's,i think the ud5a has older marvell? and dont know why your ports arnt showing up,but as long as its not affecting performance

oh wow,so are you happy with your ssd? i just went back to my 2tb hdd and ohh god it was painfully slow

Need a little bit more time to play but so far I can not see my self going back to a standard hdd.

Its kinda like going from stock 2.6ghz to oc 4.6ghz and seeing the boost in performance all over again.

Very nice results Ace! As for the Marvell drivers, I'm not sure because I can't remember how testing was with those on 9182, and plus I haven't played with it for a while so my experiences would have been old drivers anyway.

If you do test, I suggest you first test by installing the Magni Console driver only (And the one that says nodrv), this will allow MSAHCI to still be the controller and disk driver. Then test everything you want to test, before you fully install the main Marvell disk and controller drivers, then retest again.

Ok installing this Marvell Storage Utility 4.1.0.1921 41.80 MB 2011/11/16 from here ftp://download.gigabyte.ru/driver/mb...arvell_msu.exe, installed the web utility that was not capable of doing anything. Clicking on Devices on the left did nothing.

I downloaded this Marvell Driver 1.2.0.1016 from here marvell_91xx_1.2.0.1016.zip. When I ran the installer it did say Marvell Magni driver setup wizard. The other installer did not say Magni. This driver made me reboot, after reboot checked device manager and the marvell ports now show up. Its weird how they did not show before with missing driver icon.

AS SSD benchmark now shows the ssd using the marvell driver instead of the MSAHCI driver.

The web utility, Marvell Tray, is mainly for RAID configurations but you can use it to adjust some settings for single drives I believe.

I'm not sure, haven't played with it for a while but I do still have it installed in this setup so I can check for you if you need.
