What is the actual board model, thanks!![]()
Hi All,
I tried to set up a RAID 0 array a long time ago but I think it was not a success, therefore I would like to know to go about setting up a RAID 0 array with 2* Crucial M4 128GB SSD's on the GA-FXTA-UD5 motherboard.
Thanks in advance,
teknology9

Hi Lsdmeasap,
The motherboard is GA-790FXTA-UD5 (rev 1.0) with the F3J bios.
Thanks
Ahhh ok, thanks!
Do you have the manual? I'm not familiar with AMD RAID, so i can't directly help, but I know the manual will walk you through setting up a RAID, and the BIOS section will show you which settings you need to set for RAID Per controller ports.
If you don't have it, you can download it here

Hi,
Yes, I read the manual a good while back and followed it carefully, I think, but just was not sure whether the configuration was correct. I just wait until I get a new Intel MB and take it from there as I was thinking of using a Highpoint 640 RAID card but I dont think they have TRIM support.
Thanks,
teknology9
I have a 640, and it's OK, but if you plan to get an Intel board as long as you get one P67 or newer you'll have blazing fast 6Gb/s speeds via the native Intel chip.
Post up your current speeds with some benchmarks like ATTO, CrystalDiskMark, and AS SSD ( << If it's not sandforce drive, if is sandforce do ATTO and CDM only and use zero fill on CDM)

Hi,
The ATTO benchmark is as follows:
This is with the AHCI configuration on port SATA2_0 for 1 Crucial M4 128GB SSD on the GA-790FXTA-UD5.

That's ONE SSD? WOW, looks REALLY good on the read speeds, must be a glitch or something?
Since you have Crucial M4, you can run AS SSD, let's see those results.

Hi,
Here are the AS SSD benchmark results as requested:

Horrible write speed there, what happened? Looks compressed to me, that's what's going on right?
You shouldn't compress or encrypt your SSD's, or you will see erratic results and poor write speeds, encryption can slow it all down.
