Hard disk files recovery

Hi,
i have a laptop which stop works and i want recover my files from HDD
i try connect it to my desktop via sata but i cant open
any idea ?
i want recover photos only !!!

if laptop dosnt power up you have no chance. you will have to remove it and plug into a desk top and get info you want that way.

I do this and i see 2 participapes one 100mb(says slave by system) and one 120gb but i cant open them
is there any program that i will plug hdd and i recover it ?
If is in dos i dont have problem to burn it and boot it
I know a lot for computers tell me averything you want about how to recover files ;)
