WHY DOES IT SEEM LIKE 7900gtx is better than a 7950gtx2

TBH, I'd return one of them if possible mostly because they are just not feasible in SLI. Running one of those cards your PC will still be extremely fast. You will get the same speed as someone with 7900GT in SLI and I would expect you to get comparible benchmark scores as well.

As for water stuff, DangerDen is already got them for sale, stick to the brass topped units as the lucite are just not as good IMO.

Piece together your own kit and you will get a superior product. Those cheap all in one kits with 1/4" ID tubing are all garbage.

Sure you can return it, but make sure they don't hit you up for a hefty restocking fee, which they usually do for simple refunds.

It is true that the conroe chips are a good amount faster than the current AMDs, but an overclocked AMD is still a very fast CPU and will not be the bottleneck in every situation. People used to say the same thing about high end dual cards until games like Oblivion came out and had the top end SLI/Xfire setups going under 30FPS.

But this does depend on what resolution(s) you game at...if it's 1600x1200 or above.....I highly suggest waiting to see what your setup will do when you get the updated driver and actually use the other two GPUs before making any hardware changes(except for the overclock).

this shows that actually, your cpu will be fairly well suited to those craphics cards, but only if it is overclocked. hey games need specific quad-sli profiles to work with those cards, and only a couple are. i guess 3dmark05/06 dont have those profiles.

LMAO! Where in that entire article do they test the 7950s in Quad SLI? There is no currently available processor that can drive 4 GPU's without major bottlenecking. Using 2 7950's would require 30-40% more system power than using 2 X1900's. I am all for him keeping both cards as long as he understands that he will never see the full potential of them until the K8L CPU's come out. No current AMD CPU, except maybe under Phase Change/DI cooling and overclocked to 3.2GHz+, will be able to push those cards more than 60-70%.

youre right, except that there wont be THAT much of a bottleneck. so far, there arnt many games supporting quad sli so its just like 2 7900gts in sli mostly, i guess when more games are profiled then it will be great. but even if the cards are being slowed down by cpu (once that x2 gets overclocked tho) there will sill be a substatial improvemen over anything else.
anyway, i better stop arguing heh since i admit you probably know more aboiut it than me. most of my knowlege comes from reviews and articles, not real life

Believe me, I am no expert. I have had many different SLI configurations and now Crossfire. Even at 2.8GHz, my CPU is still a bottleneck to my X1800's. Not a big one, but it is there. The biggest thing to consider is what kind of display he is using. Quad SLI is truely meant for something like that Dell 30" LCD at 2500X1600 resolutions or higher to really shine. Any dual card setup is a complete waste of money if being used with less than 1600X1200 resolutions and extreme levels of AA/AF and details. If he has a large CRT/LCD with 1600X1200 or higher resolution capabilities then it makes sense for him to keep both cards. But if he runs 1280X1024 or less then 1 of those cards is more than enough. And there is nothing wrong with basing your arguements off of reviews and articles. We all learn from them and just because I have had a few dual card setups does not make me right too.

WELL THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP GUY ALSO I WAS TOLD THAT MY PSU IS NOT LETTING MY CARDS GET THEIR FULL POTENTIAL ALSO. RIght now my computer is running on a projection and your going to laugh when u hear this i have to run it at 800x600 but iam going to move that back to my sceptre 21in x20 and put res to 1600x1200.

My psu is a ultra x-connect 2 at 550 watts

Yeah, that PSU is woefully low power for your cards. Get a strong brand name power supply with some serious amps to power that rig. You don't need to run a high res in Windows, just when gaming. Then you will see the power of those cards.

1600x1200 Isn't going to drive 4 GPUs very hard, I suppose you have plenty of time to get the full potential out of your other components though(CPU overclock/cooling) and not have to worry about upgrading your GPUs for a few years.

I assume your GTX cards are long gone??
