One of the sites has a link to the 7970's that their full block will cover. One card I was looking at was the Sapphire OC model and I think all 3 Sapphires 7970's were on the list. Can't remember which block maker right now, got the link on frozencpu I think.
No way I'm going to buy a block without knowing it will fit the card I get.

I was looking at a review of 7970 water blocks, and I like the looks of the Heatkiller. How/where can I find out which cards it will fit? Still thinking about a Sapphire card, but not the OC one, although I'm not hung up on Sapphire especially as a better price might sway me. Hard for me tell what is a reference design and what isn't so I know the blocks will fit.

doesnt it say on the heatkiller website what cards it fits? is the msi card same price as sapphire? only two year warranty with the sapphire, three year with msi

You're welcome.
Better video card reviews for your brand/model will state if it uses the reference design of if the manufacturer uses a custom design pcb.
Your best bet is to contact the manufacturer's tech support to verify if the pcb is customized or different in any way from the reference design/layout.
You might be able to check compatibility by checking with vendors:

Conners, did you decide what you were gonna do? Those 79xx are some expensive things. Might go single 7950 but still a lot of money for a retired guy.
OBTW, EK's site has a configurator for gpu blocks. CoolingConfigurator.com
