The Samsung 830 looks really sweet, and the perfect opportunity to try something new (Brand). And I also like the design of the outer casing, that never hurts.
Will read up on a couple more reviews before finally deciding on what drive to get next week. (to long since I read them all to remember the details).

Ended up with the Vertex4 after scouting forums and reviews. Was only 4$ more than the M4 (and 3€ less than the Samsung) at the cheapest shop with em in storage and the RAM I wanted (Gskill Ares blue 1866 for my NAS). So total price ended up being the factor here.
Can't wait to till I get it and fire it up, finally I should have the storage I need on my system (500GB) in SSD :)

i would say the Samsang 830 seems to be very reliable. The vertex 4 has some good reviews and benchmarks so let us know goes when you fire it up!

Got it Saturday, no trouble so far. Plugged in and cloned the old 120gb onto it. No problems in any way so far. Impressed with the Software Toolbox compared to the SandForce tool I need for my other drives, but couldn't really test it as it already came with the newest firmware.Originally Posted by TeeBlack

im will looking to get my 1st ssd soon. i was looking at the Crucial M4, Samsang 830 and will now throw in the Ocz Vertex 4 into the mix.

ive owned an m4 128gb for a while,its 4k read speeds were over 100mb per second more than my current 60gb corsair gt,m4 was a good drive,samsung is a slightly better drive though,as for ocz i cant comment

Besides the trouble flashing the SandForce drives like my Force GT 120GB's on non-intel controllers, they have done a great job here. I do have about 1-2secs longer boot times then other people with other brands, but that are marginals you don't really notice and might also depend on other drivers and hardware.
Also gotta admit, I never done anything to tweak it. Plugged and Installed and that pretty much it.
Usually I don't bench my hardware, cause there are more then enough of those on the web already, but I'd be happy to do some tests on the Vertex4 if anyone would like it. It's already in "use" though. Please provide a link to the tool I need for it if you'd like me to, cause I don't really have anything atm besides monitoring tools.
If I run into any trouble with the Vertex4, I'll reply back to this thread as well, but so far it does a great job and I got no complaints
