Need suggestions for a new SSD.

I am thinking of buying a SSD as the price has dropped significantly recently and is considering buying one. However, since i have absolutely no knowledge of SSDs what so ever, I am wondering which is the best one that I can get that is 128GB and around $200.

Your best bet is to look at the Corsair Force GT 120gb drive. Thats thats the one I have and it has held up great so far with no issues. Can see some benchmarks for the drive in a link down in my forum sig.

the plextor m3p is a top performer in the 128, and at a decent price:

these would be the overall performance drives, handling compressible and incompressible data equally, though i have found that the vertex 4 handles incompressible data so well that it actually benches higher when using 100% incompressible test data.

I know they aint top performers, but from a value point of view. The crucial M4 (that does a good job with FW updates) has dropped to around 175euro for the 256GB model. And I read last week (Think it was last week) that Intel just announced a price-drop on a bunch of their SSDs.

Very happy myself with the two Force GT I got, one thing to keep in mind with SandForce driven drives is the trouble flashing them with anything but intel SATA chipset. They claim to work on AMD, but none of my AMD systems could flash any of my SandForce drives (Also got a Patriot Pyro, same trouble as Force GT).

Decided it's time to upgrade my SSD capacity, my current two times 120GB is simply not enough. So I want a 240GB drive on top of that. I don't want a SandForce chipset again so it kinda comes down to 2 drives.

Crucial M4 at 185 euro or OCZ Vertex 4 at 205 euro.

Ofcourse the Vertex4 is (from a bench point of view) a lot better and doesn't cost much more, the question is. Do I need it? I do like the 5 years warranty over 3 on the Crucial though.
It's going to be my game disk with Steam, Uplay and Origin and what comes with them.

What's your thoughts? savings of 10% worth it?

The Vertex4 has its good and not so good points. Overall it looks to be a good drive.
Check out the higher end Plextor drives with a 5 year warranty, their performance in a TweakTown review makes them #1.
My personal choice right now would be to go with Samsung 830 or Crucial M4 drives but I'd need to check into Plextor.

Totally missed the Samsung in first go, as I limited my searches to syncron flash and it has toogle. Seems like quite the nice drive and in the right price range with 195 euro. I read the review on the Plextor, and they seem to be some really nice drives but fall outside my price range.

samsung 830 is good drive,if your on a budget the sandisk extreme is decent also,and it too uses toggle nand
