Windows search too broad!

I do a search for a file in my "start" "search" and I don't mind the little dog.. I choose search for a file. I get a menu to search in like, My Documents, My Favorites, My Folder, My Music, My Videos, My computer. However if I choose my computer is searches my main drive, my logical drives, my networked drives of my wife and daughter, which really slows it down.

Surely there is a way to change the way that "search" does it's thing.

change "Look in:"

there are also more advanced options just below this to refine the search even more. You can also turn off the annoying little dog with an option on the bottom left when you first open the search interface

When I clicked on "look in:" all I got was : My Documents, My Favorites, My Folder, My Music, My Videos, My computer, no option for local harddrive C, local harddrive d, etc, etc.. it was "My computer" and it searched EVERYTHING.. if my wife and daughter were not in Linux on their computer, it searched their computers as well.. LOL

I did do something after I posted, and will give this tip, but it's more a bandage, as it really never cured the problem. I used Tweark UI for XP and choose "use classic search in explorer" and now I do get the option of C: D: E: etc, to where I can pick and choose where it is at least going to search. There must be somtehing in the registry somewhere that controls the XP search criteria.
