Activate xp on second computer

I have a genuine version of XP and have installed it on my old computer. I cannot though validate it as it keeps telling me that the number is already in use. Is there a way of getting around this or do I have to pay out big bucks to microsoft again for the number? I have tried lots of key generators but none seem to work!!!!
