Have you updated to SP3? This was a pain in the neck that was created by SP2 and the latest service pack fixes it. If for some reason you do not want to move on to SP3, then try this:
Configure Windows XP to Automatically Login
(use method #1)
I am running WinXP Pro and I am the only user/administrator on the system I could always logon automatically without the welcome screen but lately after installing some new programs I get the logon window and I can sign on without a password but it's annoying to have to do that. How can I get back to automatic logon? I have gone to the user window and selected auto sign on and I have tried Tweak UI without success. I also get a different shutdown screen. Any ideas?
Thanks, Bobcoop103
