Thread: Possible Voltage/PSU Problem

  1. Default

No real stories behind this, but I am getting concerned that my 300w PSU might be either failing/being overused.

I just loaded up the Hardware Monitor II that came with my mobo, and decided to check the voltages. I was kinda concerned.

    +3.3 - 3.22
    +5 - Fluctuating from 4.73 - 4.79
    +12 - 11.86
    -12 - Fluctuating from -11.70 - -11.78

I have 4 80mm case fans, a thermaltake VC HSU, stock AMD cooler, Northbridge fan. 2 PCToys Cold Cathode tubes. 1 20GB HD, a DVD Drive, and the rest of the crap in my sig.

I tried turning off 3 of the case fans and cold cathode, and it doesnt help at all. Am I being overconcerned here, as nothing is visually wrong, but it could be hurting my O/C Performance?

    Its an Antec PP-303X PSU.

Your 5V rail is right on the brink of the +/- 5% give per rail.

Well then, it will have to hold out until I decide on a rebuild.

Yep it's likely to be overworked but when ya replace make sure that it's rated at a minium of 400W and that the combined 3.3v and 5v rails have a 200W capacity ratin' (all good PSU's will have this labeled on them).
