Default How do I unplug a Flash/Jump Drive?

What is the procedure for unplugging a flash jump USB drive from a PC
running Windows 98SE? As long as the access lamp is not flashing can I
just unplug it or should I right button click on It's icon in My
computer folder and first select eject before physically unplugging it?

your supposed to use the eject method, generally I don't bother but I believe thats why my first 1 G USB drive stopped working (it took 12 months of abuse).

personally I'm happy to buy a new one every 12 - 18 months, rather than waste my time ejecting it via software.

I am pretty sure Windows 98 will get quite pissed off if you just unplug it. XP doesn't care, but I am 99.99% sure you need to stop it via software before taking it out.
