Default New PC build crashing

Hello,
I have built my first PC in the last month.
The PC I built:
Antec P182 Gunmetal Grey Super Mid Tower Case
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 SLACR 95W Edition"
Asus P5K-E WiFi Motherboard
BFG 8800gts 512mb
Crucial Ballistix 2GB 1066MHz(BL2KIT12864AA1065)
Serial ATA 200gb Hardrive
Hiper 580W Type-M Black PSU
SONY DVD-ROM DDU1613
NEC DVD_RW ND-2510A

The Problem i am having is with the computer shutting down and restarting it's self up straight away when i am gaming, seems not to do it when i am browsing the web or word processing.
The computer seeems to be running cool enough and once restarted i can start gaming again. I am running vista as my os.
Temps that pc is saying:
CPU- 43'c
MB- 35'c
Graphics 50'c

Another problem that has also just started is occasionally when I start my pc up all the fans start and can hear things going on inside pc but no signal is transmitted to screen. So I turn off pc and restart again and this will then boot to a screen saying overclocking failed reset bios, I do this and all is fine, even though I have not overclocked.
looking inside the pc and noticed the graphics card was making a strange noise it's not the fan sound as i stopped it briefly to check this, it's like a humming noise(hard to explain)
which was contantly going and the psu was making a noise like something shorting out or a static but came and went every couple of seconds, started writing this post and both have stopped together????

I was gaming with pc side case off and listened to the graphics card and it does make a lot of noice when under load, sounds like a harddrive running or cd rom loading (hard to explain), and this time i noticed my game freeze a few times for a fraction of a second just before computer crashed. i have never had a graphics card like this one before (BFG 8800 GTS) so unsure if the noises it's making is normal.
Not sure if these problems are linked.
Any help would be great as it's rarther fustrating. Thank you

No expert here but a couple of ideas from experience. The noise issues really do not make a lot of sense to me so I'll ignore them for now. Often I've found instabilities are Power Supply related. I realize that you have a fairly decent PSU but can you get ahold of another unit to try with your machine? The "overclocking failed reset bios" message is one I've seen in relation to low latency / high voltage RAM. Are the ram timings set properly in BIOS for what your RAM specs state?

its cool enough - so that not the issue.

update to the latest bios (motherboard) - imho I think this is the issue - with the evidence your've presented

does your event viewer show any errors (right click on my computer - select manage)

Updated my motherboard bios and graphics cards drivers and still crashed, no blue screen, this is what i found in event veiwer.

The previous system shutdown at 17:27:01 on 16/03/2008 was unexpected.

looks like gibberish to me

sometimes it can help

have you disabled auto reboot on bsod's?

try removing hardware to see if its related to a component

asus boards quiet often say overclocking failed even when they aren't.

disable q fan (or quiet fan) in the bios.

try pointing a desk fan into the side of the computer - say aimed at the graphics card - see what that does
