Default New Computer Build, need tips

    Hi!

I'm intending to build a new computer and I have a few questions.
    But first, a few points:

    1. I mostly play games with my computer, I rarely do other things.

    2. My budget is approximately 10 000 Swedish Crowns (10 000 SEK =~ 1110 Euro =~ 1580 USD =~ 970 GBP =~ 1525 AUD)

    3. I intend to buy everything from Sweden, as I happen to live in this country.

    4. I do not have a particular brand preference.

    5. I intend to keep my graphics card, which is an XFX ATi Radeon HD5870.

    6. I have read a few other threads related to computer builds, but I figured I'd like a more personal touch to my own questions, if possible.

    7. I plan to dabble a bit in Overlocking, not much, mind you. I'm a newbie.

    8. I plan on gaming at the 1680x1050 resolution, using a Samsung 22" screen

    9. I intend to order and build it within the next 30-35 days.

This is the hardware I have planned:

    CPU :
    Intel Core i5 2500K

    CPU Cooler:

    Corsair H60 H20 Cooler

    Motherboard:
One of the following, this is where I could use some help.

    ASUS P8P67 Pro
    Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3P
    MSI P67A-GD65
    ASRock P67 Extreme 4

    Memory:
    Corsair Vengeance 8GB(2x4) 1600MHZ PC-12800 CL9

    Graphics:
I already have a 5870, so I don't intend to buy a new one for this rig
I am however also taking tips on what to replace it with in my old rig.

    PSU:
    Corsair HX850W
I realize 850 is a bit overkill, but the price difference where I live is quite minor between 650-850, so, why not leave space for eventual upgrades or Crossfire?

    Case:
    Fractal Design Define R3

    Storage:
    OCZ Vertex 3 120
    320/500GB Games/whatever drive
    1.5TB storage drive

    OS:
    Windows 7 64bit Ultimate(as I have it already)

Now, the questions I have are as follows:

    The motherboard:
I have heard both good and bad things about the ASUS P8P67 boards and I really would like to know whether the boot/bluescreen etc. problems with these boards have been solved? I like ASUS and I've used their boards in previous builds.

If you wouldn't recommend the ASUS P8P67 boards, what would you recommend in approximately the same price range? Pros and Cons?

The main contenders would be: (judging by the Swedish market)

    Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3P
    MSI P67A-GD65
    ASRock P67 Extreme 4

The other question is about the SSD:

What's the recommended deal for them?
Should I partition it into two bits, one for the System alone, one for the main 2-3 games that I want to vroom about?

Or should I leave the entire drive to the System?

    Any answers appreciated!
I'm not the most techsavvy person, but I do know my way around a bit at least, so don't be afraid to make your reasoning complicated, I can always ask more questions :)

Oh, and, feel free to wake me up if it's a pile of crap. I don't take offence on the internet. I'd rather be told my build is junk than buy it and realise it later.

This exact same topic is also posted elsewhere, to try and get the largest amount of replies and helpful answers :D

To get more responses, I suggest that you post in the Gigabyte, Asrock, and "What should I buy" forums and ask for motherboard advice.
Be sure to include a link to this thread, and ask for all suggestions to be posted in this thread so that you don't have to check all four threads.
    Good luck.

I like the p67 ud4,you considered that mb? Can recommend Samsung f3 1tb hdd's and Samsung f4 2tb drives for mass storage,id go with vertex 3 because p67 has new Intel SATA 3 ports,do you really need watercooling? If your not ocing much and sandybridge clock to atleast 4.5ghz on air so you could save and buy good quality air cooler?

I did look at the UD4, but I can't really see what I'd gain with it. It brings less to the table than the P8P67 Pro does(from what I can see), for example, and it costs more.

As for the watercooling, it's not so much because I need the cooling performance, it's rather because Air Coolers are huge.
In my current build, I have an Intel Core 2Duo E8500 with a Noctua NH-U12P.
I really love the cooler, but....It's freaking huge.
My reasoning behind the watercooler is mostly to get a nicer, cleaner build, thus, I'm not bothered about the price.
(Also, I bought the NH-U12P before it was 1156 compatible, so I don't have the option to re-use it.)

Havn't looked at the asus but go for the one with the best specs for the price, usually the main differences are the power phases, some have more than others

One very important consideration; where can you find the best support for your motherboard?

Other than the so-so O.E.M. tech support that is all too common, does Asus, Asrock, or MSI have a support forum that offers the quality of support that the TweakTown Gigabyte forum offers?
