Say I have MSN Messenger up and I have it to run in the background so I just have that little icon in the task bar. Well when I right click it and choose to exit it always say's that cnnot close because outlook or msn explorer and or internet explorer is open and need's to be closed.

Evertyhing is closed none of that stuff is open.

Now I got Norton System Works 2003 and they have a web check up thing and everytime I go to try it it give's me basically the same message just in differant words but basically the same programs and none of them are running.

Is there a fix to this? I never had that problem on my old computer it's always done that with the new one even after a format but it's gotten more annoying now when I am trying to do the web clean up on Norton.

    Thanks in advanced.

Are you using msn messenger at all? If not then get rid of the **** right away. You can do this by going to Start/run and type:

    RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir \inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Press enter, reebot and the messenger is totally uninstalled from your system and you won't see it again unless you manually download it and install it.

I used to have this problem with win. mesenger whenever it was launched with outlook express, but I fixed it by telling OE not to Automatically Log on to Windows Messenger...which can be found on the General Tab under Options

also, if you use more than one IM client at any given time, i would recomend using Trillian (which is free), since it combines all major IM services into one client which takes up less system resources and is overal, easier to manage

Well I do actually rarely use it. Sometimes I'll use it to talk to a friend since that's all he uses. It just bug's knowing something is running in the background that I can't stop or don't know how to.

there is always little bits of IE running in the background, and if win. mess. gets launched with IE or one of it's associated apps (Outlook Express) then it may remain associated with it until the comp is rebooted or you kill the IM client. You should be able to kill it through Task Manager:

Hey! I was NOT barking at anyone, my English isn't as good as yours and the way I understood the post he did not use the messenger. And apps don't used can safely be removed..
But sure if it's used then keep it, or get trillian.

Btw what do you mean by "my soft/hardware is better than yours"!?
WTF is that all about Mr bubba..

it isn't worth getting into an arguement about it, I'll be happy to edit it if it offends you...I didn't mean for it to be personal, more of a generalization about the way some people act in this forum over what they think is a better product...just take a look at the current AMD vs Intel thread

btw, for what it is worth, I never though there was anything wrong with your english

Man that thread turned out to some ****in' mental institute, sometimes I just feel like givin' up on some people, but then I get that feeling saying, "no, not a chance the guy can be THAT unbelievable stupid so that they can't put 2 & 2 togheter and get it to 4" and then the whole thing just accelerate..

I must talk to people often at work, and try to get them to calm down and do as I say. Who knows maybe that have affected me.. If so then I'm sorry, it won't happen again..

Yes please Mr bubba edit your post, if you leave it like that it will look like I've said something about my hardware beein' better than someone elses which definitely ain't the case..
The review ain't about my hardware know is it.. : peace2:
