    Hey all,

I have been using outlook (from office XP cd) for a while on my Win XP system now and cant seem to figure out an issue. The problem that I am facing, is that no matter what I do in the settings the mail will not automatically send/receive mail unless I click the button. Even when I went into tools > options> send/receive and set it to send/receive every minute, the thing still wont work. Any help would be appreciated.

Just out of curiosity, do you really like outlook?

If not, incredimail is a LOT more fun and its free.
You might want to give it a try. It also checks your mail on its own and a little dude pops up on the screen, like a butler to let you know you have mail and all kinds of other crazy stuff.

I'm at home now so can't look at the correct settings, but if you don't have an answer by tomorrow when I get in to the office, I'll see if I can delve into the settings and set you up. We use Outlook for our email client using an Exchange server and we're set up in a manner that you are wanting.

i have always had it this way and thought that this is how it is meant to be i.e. press send/receive button.

about getting incredimail...imo it is a POS and is a spyware but then that is just my opinion.

I tried the incredimail and thought it was pretty cool, but I am not sure I want to pay for a new mail program that may spy on me. ANy suggestions would greatly be appreciated! What mail applications are you all using? I think Outlook is a pretty nice application that is out, but I am always willing to try different.

You don't have to pay for incredimail. Nor does it "spy" on you. It doesn't track anything or report back or anything like that.
It is a FREE email program. Although if you would like all the other extra's, THEN you have to pay for it.
Even after you download it, you can download more sounds, animations, backrounds ect. ALL FOR FREE.

Its a great program. I have been using it for over a year now. I also run a firewall, hardware & software, so I know what is coming and going, and NEVER once has incredimail sent anything out.

Believe it or not, it is one of the few programs with no strings attached. They are just hoping you like it so much you will pay for the Letters portion, and other add-ons you don't get with the free version. It is like Zone-alarm, if you like, they are hoping you will pay for the "better" version, thats all.

    try pocomail. http://www.pocomail.com

I've been using version 2 (haven't transferred over to ver 3 yet), and it's been great. It's got good support, gets good reviews from reputable sites, and has a good following.

I am going to stick with incredimail for a bit to see if it has good filters on spam. In the meantime I am also going to try poco mail. Thanks for all the advice everyone and please keep posting it. By the way, how come no one uses outlook anymore? Thanks=-
