    hey, after re-installing XP after my old HDD crashed, I had and then misplaced the Roxio 5.1 Easy CD Creator Basic Install CD that came with my Dell. Right now I dont have a burner program, which sucks. Is Cakewalk that came with XP ok? Or is there a good one I can D/l from the net? I only burn Music CD's and data CD's at the moment, so no worries there. I just have the funny feeling I lost the CD in the abyss that is my room. Thx for any help, : peace2: Mista K6

    Absolutely no question, Nero is second to none!

    However, in the freeware category;
    http://www.burn4free.com/

    burn4free appears unusual but is pretty easy to use.
    Surprisingly enough, it can handle music, data and the creation & burning of .iso discs.

    Might as well check that "compatibility link on that page and see if your burner has been tested yet.

    I think it will get you back on your feet until the maid gets back

    ADDENDUM;
    It seems that burn4free now has included the NavHelper utility in an effort to support their continuation of "free".
    I believe that removing NavHelper will not affect the functionality of the burn4free software, but you will have to try for yourself and see?

    That link gives a step by step for removing NavHelper.

    sadly, I'd have to admit that Nero is the best on a windows system. All of the really good open-source burning apps are made for Linux. However there are a few worth taking a look at. I don't have time to explain them, so follow the links:

    Wow, thx for all the stuff, I'm going to try it; however, I spoke too soon: my mom found it, lol. She has the tendancy to find stuff when no one else can. Anyways, thx for the links, I'm going to test out the burners anyways, and see if there's something better than the Roxio 5.1 Basic I have :shrug: . Thx again, : peace2: Mista K6
