    Thanks, ill just keep Hyjackthis Ad-Aware and spybot! (with my firewall)

    I was just tired of having **** installing on my computer... and eventually having to reformat... again! Ive installed all those to protect myself... but i don't know exactly what they protect me from... :D .

    actually Hyjackthis is a gud program. i have seen users with Hyjackthis catching stuff that AdAware and Spybot did not.
    not saying that having those many programs is NOT being paranoid but i like to be called paranoid rather than feeling sorry ;)

    In response to the original question, I had the same problem on my bosses comp at work. I just changed the mirror it used to get updates and it solved everything. Weird that I used the bad one at home and had no problems. Its about a month late, but maybe it'll still be of some help.
