when i attempt to view certain web sites IE simply quits and i am back at the desktop without so much as an error message to console me.

the number of sites affected is tiny so far as i can tell, so far 2 out of maybe 60 My Favourites. and it doesnt matter if i type the url in the addy bar either.

check this tho - i have installed OPERA and then NETSCAPE but neither of them can reach the sites either - weird huh?

any help etc etc etc thanks.

2 things come to mind offhand :?:

    1.) hosts file?

2.) conflicting setting regarding default browser?

something to take a look at perhaps.

No probs here either so either you need to fully update IE there or do a repair job on it.

thanks for your time on this lads. i am going to follow the link from wiggo BUT please note i have tried both netscape and opera so it's not specific to IE the browser....i'm just trying to avoid another damn fdisk/format marathon ;]

i will post back the results of my repair effort.
