    im connected to the internet through other computer on my network, sites work fine from the other computer. That one is running Norton Personal Firewall though.

    Could it be some setting in that thats wrong. I had a look but couldnt find anything

    Probaly is a setting, Black ICE use to prevent AIM from signing on, until I told it that AIm is safe. Then it let it.

    make sure the sites in question are not listed in the 'hosts' file

    you can find it here:
    WinXP= C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
    Win2K= C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
    Win98\ME= C:\WINDOWS

    you can open it and edit it with notepad or another text editor
    I've gone too far and need to move on!

    A-ha!

    Wouldn't be the first time Norton created this problem.
    Uninstall/reinstall of Norton will often fix this issue.

    For my 2 cents worth - get Sygate or ZoneAlarm and never have the issue again.
