it's not demanding on system resources either.
It's been workin' for me for quite a few years now and has picked up things that Norton, McAphee and PCCillian didn't.

I'm wondering whats the best alternative to this years ativirus software?

Definetely. if I didn't have corp. (which isn't the same thing as regular), I would use AVG over Norton without thought. Regular Norton AV is horrible and has been known to cause more problems than solve.

Well....i used norton for about 2 years. I liked norton. Used mcfee for a year..did not like it, it just looked crappy and the protection wasn't as good as norton. Now i dumped norton for AVG, so far everything is good. :D

    freezes my system
Sounds familiar, I have seen this happen more than once with systemworks, very bad. After switching them to either nav2002 or avg, all is fine.

Had a customer just today with a wierd virus detection. Using panda, it thought and actually insisted a wallpaper was a virus. The name of the jpeg was wn32.blaster.worm.edition. lol.
Just a wallpaper that makes fun of m$'s ability to thwart such things. lol
This leads me to believe it is a bunkass av program.

I've personally known 2 people who switched to AVG from Norton and immediately discovered vurus that Norton had missed - was no small amount of swearing in those instances, I tell you
