i have encountered a weird installation problem on a friends pc, the error message refers to InstallShield but the local Installshield files are all current and functioning normally.
just wondered if anyone had come across "zdatai51.dll" and had any advice for us ?

    thanks ;]

also, you might try installing in safe mode

Zdatai51.dll is an InstallShield Corp. Zone Datafile.
And i get it frequently when attempting to install
    corrupted game/app programs downloaded form
    the net since i've been on T1 cable.......guess that's
the price i pay for dwnld at 350kbps.

However, IMHO your problem likely stems from
either remaining app files from a previous install
or a conflict between the application config file &
the InstallShield specific package base. Usually
meaning either the App was bundled with the
incorrect InstallShield progs or the Apps config
wasn't amended properly for that Shield. If it
is the latter, you could open the app config &
make the changes. Open apps config scroll
to the bottom and add the following:

; force it to install even though "Name of App goes here" has a newer version
    [AppDefaults\\dcom98.exe\\DillOverrides]

But, if you're running 2000/XP i'm not familiar with any debuggs.

    Also a possible fix

This error may be due to

    1. bad disc media.
    2. antivirus programs currently running,
    3. Temporary files

Check the bottom of the disc for scratches, dust, dirt, or fingerprints. If any are found, try cleaning the bottom of the disc with a lint-free cloth.
    Close all anti-virus programs
Delete the contents of your Temp directory (click start |run | %temp%).
