ActiveX is one of those nifty little features built into Internet Explorer to allow the Internet experience to be more fully utilized. It allows certain pages, coded in a certain manner, to use deeper parts of your systems horsepower and make the webpages come to life, remember facts about you and other things like this. Unfortunately, it also allows hackers to code pages in a manner that will let them break into your system if you're not careful. You can make changes to the security settings by going into the options portion of IE and make the appropriate adjustments, but you do so with the understanding that your system will be at a higher risk of break-ins. Of course, many good AV programs and firewalls will prevent problems from cropping up. :)

Or use mozilla. No activex, so you dont have to worry about hackers or anything. And since its not too widely used, your compatibility wont go down much.

Edit: Your already having activeX problems so I wouldnt bother with Mozilla, I must have missed that part the first time.
