    Default microsoft word dl

    hi, quick question.
does anybody know where i can download microsoft word for free?
also, if that's not possible if you could suggest another program like word that i can also download off the internet for free, that would be just as good.
    thanks a lot,

OpenOfffice is better than MS Office IMO, anyway. I'd highly recommend it.

Microsoft has a free viewer for word docs.. you can view word doc with it and print them but not edit them..

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=EN

AbiWord is also pretty nice: http://www.abisource.com/
but you have to save files as RTF for Word users to be able to open your documents..

Wordpad is built into most versions of Windows and will do everything that does, I'm assuming. But any Microsoft product you can get for free is bound to have its... limitations. I really doubt that has nearly as many features as MS Office or Open Office.

doesn't wordpad still come up with an empty document if you try viewing any advanced word docs that were created with office 2000+? I've had that problem in the past with it. the word viewer will open those most of the time unless the doc is corrupt.

Don't know how I missed that post...

I have used the free download on several machines. Its main advantage is that it allows you to view Word documents in their proper format. It also allows you to print these documents off. The disadvantage is that it does not allow you to edit the content of these documents, it is only a viewer. This works great for email attachments using Word but having a machine without the Office suite installed.
