Registry issues can cause slow downs but problem registries are usually caused by something else. Have you scanned for malware with an antivirus program and a program that checks for spyware/adware?

I don't think the registry has a huge impact on performance these days (well as far as what can be cleaned with registry utils)

However, if you wish to try to clean up your registry here are a few free tools:

CCleaner has a registry cleaner that is fairly safe to run, I haven't run into any troubles just doing a scan and clean without really checking what its doing.

If you wish to go further though, you could try RegSeeker. However be careful with this one as it finds a lot of stuff and can easily cause you problems if you just clean everything.

After that, you can then finish up with RegCompactPro and a reboot..

Before you go to all that trouble though, open the Task Manager (CTRL SHIFT ESC) and see if any processes are contstantly running at 100%, which would be the cause of your slow pc.
A common cause is malware as previously mentioned..

    hi . . .
i registered IDM with a crack but now it shows the error saying your idm is registered with a fake serial number . every time i install it it does that .
can it be solved by cleaning registries or how ?

NFI what IDM is but buying a legitimate version and see if that solves the issue. Any talk regarding cracks and keygens etc. is usually halted very rapidly on this website.
