OK, now that there's a new version of 3DMark out, time for everyone to post their new scores... I'll be posting mine when i get my comp running again...

Note: Please only post 3DMark 2001SE scores..

02-13-2002, 01:25 PM
Also default setting scores only and use the "Print Screen" feature to post ya scores too (No links, for those that don't have accounts can't see them). :smokin:

02-14-2002, 04:36 AM
sweet with the new version I got 4542 3dMarks...kickass:clap:

02-14-2002, 04:56 AM
'The benchmark was not run using default settings'

what's that all about? I heard someone else kept getting that message.. even though they had set for the default benchmark...

Ive heard things from registry changes to advanced features not found in the control panel (such as setting mipmap detail in GTU/nvmax or overclocked cards etc) to just a random occurance.

dunno myself, i sooo wanna fire it up on me gf2pro but im not home atm

02-14-2002, 11:50 AM
Just saw that everyone gets that message.. My guess is if you register it, then the message will go away, cos you'll have access to all the tests...

02-14-2002, 05:03 PM
Using 23.11 drivers and haven't OC'ed my CPU yet...

When it gets cold again, i'm gonna bump up the FSB a little, up the GF3 a little, update drivers.. and then see how i go...

EDIT: I must say the new Advanced Pixel Shader Test looks sweet.. apart from the dodgy fish...

02-15-2002, 04:09 AM
for some reason I can't get it to install on XP or Win2k two seperate machines. Never had this before

02-15-2002, 01:57 PM
I've got to find the 3 hours to download it :cantfocus

02-16-2002, 04:49 AM
hehehehe me too, dam this 56! :shoot: 56k modems

02-16-2002, 03:29 PM
OK.. from what i've been told, there's no point gettin the new version if you ain't got a gf3 / Radeon 8500 or better.. The new stuff is only for those with DX8 support.. so those on dialup without a decent vid card.. save the time...

That aside, I managed to improve my score a little..

02-16-2002, 03:35 PM
Well I'm preparing for a newer video card, so I downloaded it :p

Down in two goes, got kicked off by my darling mother :rolleyes2 last night, resumed today. Seems pretty much the same to me - I'll wait until I get my faster card then I'll see how good it is :)

02-17-2002, 12:06 PM
I haven't been able to download it yet - I'll let you know soon once I've got ADSL installed. :)

02-17-2002, 12:18 PM
Let's see..... if Tweaky downloads it on *cough* Telstra *cough* dialup it will cost him an extra $8.40 :cackle:

02-17-2002, 04:40 PM
Dont you just hate ppl who rub their conection in your face?

02-17-2002, 04:47 PM
Well it's just that Tweaky has a crappy ISP when he can choose a real ISP like Optus :D

But he's on the list to get ADSL - so then he can laugh at me :(

BTW Shepps: I'm on 56K as well - and phone lines in Australia are a LOT worse than in the UK ;)

02-17-2002, 04:52 PM
My ISP sucks..its a free one though (no subs no call charges) .........two of my mates just got cable, and all they do is remind me of my 270 ping on counter strike..... lol.

02-17-2002, 04:59 PM
I pay A$27.95/month (about 10 pounds) for 120hr/month and unlimited downloads - plus I pay A$0.18 (6 pence) per local call to the Internet :(

02-17-2002, 05:02 PM
eh? unlimited downloads? they give you a different number to use when you you d/l?

02-17-2002, 05:12 PM
download = data transfer

data transfer = browsing/email/downloading

Most ISPs in Australia have download limits, Tweak's has a 300MB download limit

Just as well I've got unlimited, I downloaded 1300MB this month :p

02-17-2002, 06:03 PM
I also have adsl hehe!

02-17-2002, 06:13 PM
oh i see....:grenade: hehe

02-21-2002, 03:19 AM
:( I fell great pain for those of you in austrialia...56k was bad enough when I had 15k/s on SegaNet in the US...but 56k like you guys have would be hell. I don't think I could handle not having cable once I got it, and with all the limitations on your isps....what the hell man?:thumbs do

02-21-2002, 08:47 AM
Not all of us have to put up with dialup in Australia as I just love my cable connection. ;)
Good to see that sig improving too but if ya could position the pic to either the left or right of ya text it would be sweet. :smokin:

No, you must mean someone else. The person on that message board prolly liked Jeff K as well. Jeff K's site: http://www.somethingawful.com/jeffk/ :bounce2:

02-25-2002, 03:05 PM
Both me and #2son on 56K....$25/month for unlimited access and download with Iprimus...his machine is online about 12-14hrs a day every day with 3 of them playing CS....1.2gig upload and 2.2gig download a month.....that 3.4gig of traffic on 56k dialup...sheesh

02-25-2002, 06:37 PM
With the 2 PC's here online 24/7 we do between 4-6gigs a month here normally but occasionally has got up to 9gigs but not to often. :smokin:

02-25-2002, 07:03 PM
9 gig?????? WHAT???

Hey guys, I recently read an article on Xtrememods.com (http://www.xtrememods.com/articles/3DMark01.shtml) on increasing 3dMark score. They suggust changing the default settings as one of the ways to achieve higher marks. I sent this email to the author:

From: me
To: robert.simmons@xtrememods.com
Sent: Wednesday, February 27, 2002 3:16 AM
Subject: Xtrememods.com Articles : 3DMark 2001

Isn’t changing the default settings in 3dMark cheating? I believe almost everyone I have talked to considers this to be unfair.

Then he replied with:

Hi there,
Thanks for your comments on the article.
Changing the default settings is not cheating, how do u think all the others managed to get such high a score without changing anything? It's not cheating and many people at Madonion adjust the default settings.
Hope this could have been some help to you.
Yours sincerely,
Robert Simmons

Is it me, or is this not correct? I think changing the color depth to 16 bit from 32bit is an extreme form of cheating, since I ran 3dMark2001se at defaults, except fro changing the color depth to 16bit. I got 4806 Marks, compared to my 32bit score of 4605. I'd say a 201 point increase is quite a lot, for "just changing the default settings". I bet I could get a good score if I ran it at 640x480 as well. Where is the standard, people?

02-28-2002, 03:48 AM
While it's not exactly cheating, it is misleading since most folks who are true tweakers use the default benchmarks. When I do any testing of video cards, motherboards, or anything else in which I use the 3dMark utilities, I always use default settings. I also state in the narrative of the testing section that the tests were run in this manner so that there is no misunderstanding.

It could conceivably be considered all right if the tester states clearly that the testing wasn't performed at default settings, AND if all testing is performed with identical settings used. Anything less than this should be considered deliberate deception.

02-28-2002, 09:05 AM
I agree Darth, its like cooling...you have to compare apples with apples.....if not you are only kidding yourself.....

03-01-2002, 11:06 PM
It is not cheating!

03-02-2002, 09:50 AM
If I use non-standard benchmarks, I will state that clearly in the review. Often non-standard benchmarks can be used to test specific things, such as 640x480@16bpp to test CPU performance :)

03-02-2002, 10:07 AM
It is not cheating!

I'm beginning to see how you scored so well on your 3dMark scores... huh? For comparison purposes, you should use the default settings. Anything else is misleading to say the least.

03-02-2002, 10:28 AM
If ya don't use the default settings ya not givin' any parity in scores with other ppl. ;)

03-03-2002, 01:12 AM
i agree, it kinda defeats the whole object of benchmarking if you run it on super crap settings.

03-03-2002, 01:14 AM
I always run at the default value! I swear!

03-03-2002, 09:36 AM
Hmmmmmmmmmm You could kinda say that but hell... the people with better depth is always better score because its more realistic than lower resolutions and colour depth.

I used 1024 x 786 @ 32BPP and i got 4776 ... beefy what id u use then hehe :)

03-03-2002, 10:12 AM
I have to agree about the changing of resolutions being misleading. I run it at the defaults unless I need to otherwise.

03-03-2002, 04:58 PM
I used 1024 x 786 @ 32BPP and i got 4776 ... beefy what id u use then hehe :)

Defaults. All I ever use is defaults, otherwise it's just useless. :)

03-03-2002, 05:44 PM
Small problem...

When I run 3DMark2001 SE on my GeForce3 Ti200, and run the new test (advanced pixel shader or something?) the test runs and when the screen blanks out at the end (like after every other test), the machine locks up. Any ideas? :?:

03-03-2002, 07:11 PM
Cool beefy... but how did u get 7xxx !? and i only got 4776 when i was running it @ 1024 x 786 @32BPP?!

Albinus... What Wattage is your PSU?

Well.. the reason i think is because this bug!! the nv4_dis.dll thing bug is caused by low power supply not any settings... i have tried ton's of drivers... and none work... so i was speaking to wiggo, and well it kinda all come to the PSU... so i am on the look out for a minimum wattage PSU of 300w with no cash :(

BUt hell i will have 2 try n save up :(

03-04-2002, 04:50 AM
I got 7xxx because of this:

Athlon XP 1800+ (1.53Ghz) running at 1.61Ghz
Geforce 3 overclocked to 285/530
512MB DDR Ram....

Basically I'd just put together my new system, I tweaked it out a bit, got my score, then set it all back to normal. :D

03-04-2002, 05:42 AM
Albinus... What Wattage is your PSU?

I personally think it has something to do with the program, as every other benchmark and game I have runs perfectly without locking up.

And for the record I have a 300W AOpen PSU ;)

03-04-2002, 06:03 AM
The test seems to run fine for me. I don't suppose you've got another machine lying around with a decent vid card to test it on? :)

03-04-2002, 09:25 AM
Well, on Darth's advice I installed the 27.42 Detonators, and they work great. Only problem is that it flickers at 60Hz in 3D applications, NVReffix hasn't been updated for the 27.42 drivers yet :(

Anyway here's a pic - linked of course (don't want to suck up our bandwidth again) ;)

03-04-2002, 09:28 AM
And this is running default settings..... why it's saying otherwise is beyond me

This is using a GeForce3 Ti200, and a 1.7GHz Pentium 4 on a Shuttle AV40R with 256MB DDR. Is this a good score? :?: I haven't overclocked anything either :p

03-04-2002, 10:06 AM
very nice...

If you noticed in some of the threads here (including this one I think), SE will say that you aren't using defaults when you are, no matter what you set. I think it wants a registered program running all the tests to say it's default... doesn't make much difference though.

03-04-2002, 10:17 AM
*Slaps face*

I should have read the thread.....

But at least (according to Beefy) my score is OK, might see what I can get with a bit of o/c'ing magic :thumb:

03-04-2002, 12:25 PM
OK - Here's the story:

Overclocked the CPU to 109MHz FSB, raised the chipset voltage to 2.55V. CPU core voltage is raised to 1.75V, and the Ti200 is now running at 195MHz core and 450MHz memory. Here's my score:

03-04-2002, 01:45 PM
Not bad at all for a 700pt gain. :thumb:

03-04-2002, 02:55 PM
If the video card could overclock a bit more, I'd be happier, but it runs fast enough as it is :)

5MHz core and 10MHz memory deficit when compared with the standard GeForce3 is pretty darn good :thumb:

The CPU does run a little warmer, mainly due to the voltage increase I think. Raising the voltage to the P4X266 chipset also paid off - it's much more stable now ;)

03-04-2002, 06:34 PM
I've got 7215 (http://gamershq.madonion.com/compare2k1.shtml?2909119) for a Ti200@230/475mhz on a P4-1.8mhz. Of course with default settings.

If you get a message that the settings was not set at default, although you are sure it was, check that your desktop is also set at or higher than the defaults. Also make sure FSAA is disabled.

03-04-2002, 06:47 PM
Nice score Albinus!

03-06-2002, 04:34 PM

Yeah but your Ti200 overclocks a lot better than mine..... oh well :(

03-07-2002, 12:04 AM
Hehehehehehehhe :D

Well u do have a better system aswell tho ...

03-21-2002, 03:38 AM
lol - 2856

Athlon @ 150*9.5(1425)
GF2MX:) - 23.11
XP pro

REALLY need a proper video card....

03-23-2002, 03:54 AM
I broke 10,000 for the first time on 3DMark 2001SE last night. My system is as follows:

XP1700 (Ozc to 1650MHz)
512 DDR
GeForce4 Ti4400 running at 300/600

I came very close to 10,000 with a ATI 8500 card but only close. It seems to be optimized for 3Dmark.

03-23-2002, 04:04 AM
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nearly got yo 5000 on gf3 ti200...

03-23-2002, 04:24 AM
That 5,000 sounds reasonable. I had a Leaktek GeForce3 Ti200 overclocked to 200/500 and I could not break 7,000 unless I ran 16 bit or non standard 1024x768 resolution.

03-23-2002, 04:49 AM
Well i am happy with 5000 but 10000 is gr8! whats the GF4 like?

03-23-2002, 10:50 AM
I'm glad I waited a little while. I have a friend that bought a Asus GeForce3 Ti500 one month ago and paid $100.00 more than I paid for the GeForce4. I would not pay the extra for the Ti4600, but the Ti4400 is definetely worth the $270.00. Commache4 and Nascar Season 2002 look incredible at high res and very high FPS.

I suggest you purchase some Artic Silver 3 heat compound and use it on the CPU and video card. It dropped my temps more than 5c on both. I pulled the heat sink off both my GeForce3 and GeForce4 and the compound was minimal and not even covering the entire GPU! Get the most out of your video card, whether it's a TNT2 or a GeForce4.

03-24-2002, 05:45 AM
9961 is my best so far....I want the 10k so bad!!!

A-Bit KR7A mobo
Athlon XP 1800+ @ 1.63 ghz
512 MB RAM
Visiontek Xtasy Ti 4600

I love my machine and that's my latest goal...to get the big 10K!!

(And yes, it's all at standard settings for the benchmark):knife:

03-24-2002, 02:33 PM
Wow, I'm surprised you don't get 11,000. Are you running your new video card at stock speed? Are you running the latest Via 4in1 driver, it's 4.38 and has the new AGP included. Here is my exact system config:

WinXP Professional
MSI K7T266 Pro2-RU
XP1700 @ 1650
2 Corsair PC2400 256 meg
PNY Ti4400 @ 300/600
2 Maxtor 40 Gig in Raid 0 config

The best I've had at default settings on 3DMark 2001SE is 10,534.
This is with a clean install of WinXP. After I start installing stuff like PC Alert III it drops it down a couple hundred but still above 10,000 but then I can also bring it up a little by disabling services not needed.

03-24-2002, 04:53 PM
The highest i ever got on the comp below was 2700 :( i need a new GFX card and a new CPU + Mobo and new moniter....need i go on? :'(

03-27-2002, 01:15 AM

I have not OC'ed my GPU at all....yet :D

03-27-2002, 04:39 AM
I have installed the new detonators and i get 4019

03-30-2002, 10:34 AM
I get 1,854 on a pIII 450mhz @ stock with 320mb pc100 sdram and a heavily overclocked geforce2 mx400 64mb. Is that good for my system ?

03-30-2002, 03:17 PM
That is about right. Your limiting factor is the CPU. You might try overclocking your PC100 memory if you can on your Motherboard. Even if you are using the stock cooling device on your PIII, you should be able to go to 105 on the FSB. Make sure you use something like Motherboard Monitor (MBM) to monitor CPU temp. It's speeds up the AGP slot also and that is why it help so much because it is probably only X2.

I have a PIII 500 (wife's machine) that is running at 625MHz but it has a big heatsink and two fans (slot 1 CPU). It has a GeForce DDR and it does what she wants. It also has Kingmax PC150 memory though, but even name brand (non value) PC100 memory overclocks acceptable.

 Duker

04-01-2002, 08:01 PM
its a real pity i got a gateway computer...i got it a long time ago when i wasn't very well educated and i am ashamed of it *blushes* but hell, i have to live with it for now...since can't overclock cpu i make the best i can out of my geforce2 mx400 (a recent addition) since its the only thing i can overclock, lol. Its running 275/370, from 200/320. nice core overclock ey.

04-02-2002, 05:35 AM
i have an athlon 1000 @ 1100
512 pc133 ram
prolink g/f 2 ti 64 ddr ram
QDI kinetiz 7e kt133a board

the drivers i'm using are the 27.42, on these drivers i got 3713,
i then installed the 28.32 drivers and got a reading of 3693,
a drop of 20 points,,,,, i'm back with 27.42 now:thumb:
using default settings..

04-03-2002, 07:22 AM
Even when not chaning drivers you score can easily fluctuate by that amount, it all depends on wot programs are running in the the background therefore how much free ram u have, how long ur comp has been before you ran the tests etc etc.

04-03-2002, 03:40 PM

very true shepps...i always close everything except explorer before i benchmark :lips:

04-03-2002, 08:40 PM
But then u cud raise the point that who closes everything down, or restarts their comp before playing a game?
I surely dont, i cant be bothered to close everything or restart my comp just when i wanted a quick game of cs :D

04-06-2002, 04:50 PM
7976 was my score /w default settings..

abit kr7a-raid
512 ddr 2100
geforce 3 ti200

edit: added link

04-07-2002, 11:48 AM
I got a 6223, is that reasonable?

1.4 Athlon
Epox 8k7a+
256 Mushkin ddr
CardExpert GF3 W/ 28.32 drivers

Everything at stock (for now)

04-07-2002, 06:03 PM
In 3dmark2001SE i get 7729 but i still feel thats too low. i think i should at least be breaking the 8k marker. wat u guys think??

AMD XP 1900+
AURIGA RADEON 8500 (250/275) (clock/mem)
2x 40 GB Seagate Baracuda IV

04-07-2002, 09:47 PM
i think you should get a little more because my bro has:

AMD xp 1700+ @ 1800+
msi kt333 pro ultra
765 meg ddr ram
ati radeon 8500se
ibm 7200 60gig

and returns a score of 7941
the cpu never gets above 44c,
mind u, he dose have a totle of six fans inside,: peace2:

04-10-2002, 02:13 AM
Its cuz of that gimp ati card.

Athlon XP 1900 at 1692
1 gig DDR
GeForce 3 Ti200

And i get a 8410

04-11-2002, 02:21 AM
Your score is effected by many things from the programs running in the background to the temp of your comp. Your 3D mark score will be alot different when running after uv played cs for an hour copied a cd and then played some music compared to running the tests after your comp been off all nite n u just turned it on.

Shepps :D

04-13-2002, 10:26 PM
maybe...but not that different. If you'd left it on for 2 weeks straight then benchmarked, well, then you'd see some differneces, but not just from playing a game of CS.

04-13-2002, 10:53 PM
maybe my comps jsut special then :p

04-14-2002, 08:52 AM

3DMARK2001SE SCORE: 3984

04-14-2002, 02:10 PM
45MB/s....that's completely insane:cantfocus ....*drool* Is it even available in Australia

04-14-2002, 05:59 PM
don't quote me on this but it think it is actualy in australia, but only for isps or something

04-14-2002, 06:51 PM

don't quote me on this but it think it is actualy in australia, but only for isps or something

yeah, I was thinking something along those lines aswell..

04-14-2002, 09:45 PM
Australia has T3 and its available to anyone, the only reason the its only ISPs that have it is because only they can afford to have it

telstra will give ya any connection as long as ya throw enough money their way :flames:

04-14-2002, 09:50 PM
Too bad not many ppl got money to throw around lol.

04-14-2002, 10:29 PM
WHOA, bad assumption made there... T3 = 45 MEGA BIT which is abbreviated (Mb)

Mega BYTE is abbreviated MB, and there is a big difference... a T3 will get you NO MORE than 6 MB / sec.

Which really isn't that much... You aussies better HOPE that your ISP's have access to 6 Meg/sec, or you're in big trouble.. Ahahahah... Just think.. 6 meg a second is 1000 active dial up connections... OR 30 broadband users @ 200K/sec

04-15-2002, 08:42 AM
Sorry but you can get 45mb per second!! My cousin works as a very stressed (but highly demanded) technician for several large commercial companies with servers linked to Full T3 (45MB) connection bandwdith support. The full T3 bandwidth supports the full data rate of 45MB per second.
The other options that some people do get mixed up with is the fractional T3 connection that smaller businesses go for with lower costs, therefor, T3 is available in increments of 3MB per sec, up to 45Mb per sec.
The bandwidth, as we all know, depends on lots of factors. Such as the time of day, etc. Example; The T3 consists of 672 individual channels, each channel supports 64Kbits per second. Yes, it's true that big bucks help when it comes to securing T3s which are the backbone of many ISPs. (although there is a much faster connection than T3 that Scientists are testing. Wait for it, 2.6 tera bits per second (Tb/sec).
This is equivlent to 400,000 channels of bandwidth, compressed video. It is the worlds first 20 Gb/sec optical duo-binary modulator/demodulator. I think I have made my point and I hope it keeps everyone's appetite going for better internet access.
-All the best (from a self confessed tech-head).

04-15-2002, 09:17 AM
20 GB/s...that's what I call bandwidth!!!

04-15-2002, 09:03 PM
You would need like a mega large HD to store all the stuff you d/l lol, if there was a 20gb d/l, it would fill my hd in about 0.4 seconds lol.

04-16-2002, 03:12 PM
not really, the place you are downloading from has to be able to upload at that speed too, eg my cable connection doesn't get a very good work out, coz not many servers upload fast enuff to keep up with my modem's download speed

04-21-2002, 05:34 AM
Most servers are stuck on 512KBs/2Mbit connections with just 256KBs/512KBs upload size. Faster computers are just 2/3 years away with 3.5Terrabyte RAM (smaller than the size of a credit card). the production costs for this is just Ģ10 per chip and is expected to sell for around Ģ30. Haven't yet got any further details; like what motherboard manufacturer will want the task of supporting this size of RAM.
Things are looking hopeful, maybe we can eventually store everything in pure RAM form (so everything stays on RAM like a HardDisk and it'll be a lot faster to play Max Payne).
On the HardDisk front, a 160GB Ultra ATA 166/15,000rpm (3ms access time) is in development and will be released quite soon (late summer). For anyone to have a machine that still has U. ATA 100(100MB/s), U. ATA 133(133MB/s) is available; although the difference in performance isn't going to do much for people writing docs, it should help when composing music, wireframe design, storage servers, etc.

04-22-2002, 05:14 PM
I would like to know what kinda bandwidth Download.com is using??? I always get a fast connection from there servers and just by looking at the title of there site you know many users are pulling files off there server.

Well, I get 7651 at default settings with the system in the sig:D

See, NForce ain't that slow. It's pretty damn good for the CPU and video card I run. Even including XP1600+ and Ti500's I still rank in the top 10:D

I got a 810 score on my 3DMark....nice right...no one can beat that score!
I have a 933 P3, 512 MB Sdram, Gforce 2 (PCI-dont have an agp port) ...that was pathetic.
I just noticed and Olie beat me :p hehe....

05-26-2002, 09:13 AM
yep....that PCI Geforce2 mx is definitely screwing bad my friend....your score would more the double with the same card in AGP form....too bad you don't have an AGP slot though. You might want to concider a new motherboard :D

05-26-2002, 01:46 PM
Indeed....its on it way ...new mobo and a Ti4600...hehe

05-26-2002, 02:13 PM

05-26-2002, 02:22 PM
Just a lil' bit ML...just a lil'...DuDe btw way like that pic of the chick...the latest one on your signiture.:D

05-26-2002, 02:31 PM
Same chick as I've had in the past 2. I changed a few things on my main machine, like using the nForce audio (got the rear speakers to work:thumb: ) and went looking for another pic.

Maybe I should start a 'Goth babes' thread in the Babes and Hunks section:lips::D

05-27-2002, 12:47 AM
No way it doesn't look anything like the past 2. I wanted to ask if i should try oc'ing my new card when it comes in...or should i wait for the kit Darth is gonna review soon? :?:

05-27-2002, 01:19 AM
1.)Yes, it's the same chick--different clothing and hair, and less makeup.

2.)Try overclocking and see how far ya get. Sometimes cooling will only go so far, as components simply cannot work any faster, so the stock cooling may be good enough.

05-27-2002, 03:56 AM
The new cooler will allow you to take the core a little higher, but not a whole bunch. But then, cooler temperatures plus even a little boost to performance isn't too bad, is it? :)

05-28-2002, 05:11 PM
Ok here's my untweaked score from the newest edition to the family.

05-30-2002, 07:27 PM
Ok I turned the GF4MX up a bit tonight to 300/500 and this is the result. :smokin:

05-30-2002, 08:00 PM
It's kinda hard to complain about a 700 point increase. :)

Oh... which machine is this from, #4?

No.2 PC is the one these are comin' from. ;)

06-06-2002, 11:10 AM
hey guys whats up...it seems (with some help from my good friend Max) that my system is running stable on WinXP. I ran the 3D Mark with the latest nvidia driver (the 29.42 Driver) on my Ti4600 i got a 9539. I was happy... is that any good for my setup? I sure think so anyone think otherwise?:)

06-06-2002, 11:28 AM
not too bad.. if you decided to OC your whole system though, you'd probably manage to get 11000.. :)

06-06-2002, 11:48 AM
That would be sweet! :geek:

06-06-2002, 04:18 PM
I'd say that 11,500 wouldn't be that big an ask either if you overclocked it to it limits...

06-07-2002, 05:37 AM
Umm update now i got 9889 score...WOOT! No oc'ing or nothing but i did turn of my Cable tho you think that had anything to do with it?:)

06-07-2002, 06:50 AM
when u run 3dMark, it's best if you shut down everything that you don't need.. and I do mean everything. :)

06-07-2002, 07:54 AM
Right...will do...:thumb:

06-10-2002, 03:23 AM
i get just on 8000 with my gf3 ti200 with the 28.32 dets on 98se.

06-10-2002, 03:27 AM
i got my friend's ti4400 and got this:):) :)

U like Natalie Portman:cheers:

06-14-2002, 06:12 AM
Okay, the last time I tried this, I got 6223. At the time I was having major stability problems with my hardware combination and the Epox 8K7A+. It worked fine with my GF2Pro, but it didn't like the GF3. Anyway, I upgraded to a Epox 8K3A and no more stability problems and score boosted by about 1000 points! With minor tweaking I got it up to 7742! I am pretty happy with that. : party ha

06-14-2002, 03:18 PM
OK.. from what i've been told, there's no point gettin the new version if you ain't got a gf3 / Radeon 8500 or better.. The new stuff is only for those with DX8 support.. so those on dialup without a decent vid card.. save the time...

That aside, I managed to improve my score a little..

The question has nothing to do with the thread or anything but...
itīs just incredible!!!!!!!!

06-15-2002, 03:01 PM
Here is my score....
MY GOD it took a long long long time to download the bench!!!!!!!!

lol, 56k modems plain suck :thumbs do

i WANT to see the rest of it...... did you made it? otherwise... where can i find it? where did u get it?

06-25-2002, 06:26 AM

06-30-2002, 01:33 PM
 hi, can anyone tell me how to increase the 3d mark 2001 score. i will join a contest at my university.

any bios tweak or driver tweaks or about overclocking.

some also saying that if set the desktop resolution same to 3dmark default resolution will give a better score. so i want tips something like that.

thanks mike

06-30-2002, 02:06 PM
There is your Enhance AGP Proformance option in Bios and of course setting your FSB Clock to a higer setting. Also, your GPU overclock, here is a guide from tweaktown on how to do it--->Video Card Overclocking Guide (http://www.tweaktown.com/document.php?dType=guide&dId=267)

06-30-2002, 03:50 PM
Make sure that your using 98/98SE if ya goin' for the best scores possible. ;)

06-30-2002, 10:07 PM
thanks for the reply

hmm, about the overclocking . i knew well. but it;s there any other way of increasing the 3dmark 2001 score.

i actually dont care about the quality but i want the maximum score i can get. is there anyway to enable the coolbits using registy ?.

under windows xp. does disable or enabling something will increase the 3dmark score.
same to bios, what are the best setting in bios to get the highest 3dmark score.

what are the maximum fsb will work, anyone got experience of fsb overclocking. if overclock the fsb from 133 to 150 will it work.

06-30-2002, 10:22 PM
Don't bother with Coolbits, d/l nVHardpage (http://www.guru3d.com/nvhardpage/) as more tweaking can be done with this and the Refresh rate fix is supported as well for up to 29.60 Dets.
This article (http://www.guru3d.com/guide/benchmark-guide/) will guide you in getting some extra points as well plus this BIOS guide (http://www.rojakpot.com/Speed_Demonz/BIOS_Guide/BIOS_Guide_Index.htm) may help as well.
There was another good guide for gettin' the best 3DMark score but atm I can't remember where it is.
Good luck. :thumb:

07-02-2002, 06:22 PM
about the overclocking,

i wanted to overclock my fsb to 145 and dicided not to overclock my display card. so will overclocking the fsb will give a better 3dmark score or overclocking the display card

i unable to choose both because it will cause artifacts on my screen.

so which one to choose

07-02-2002, 06:37 PM
Actually both used together will give the best results. :smokin:

07-02-2002, 10:54 PM
yes you are right.

but using both with cause graphic corruption on the screen. so what should take care more.

fsb overclocking or display card overclocking.

07-03-2002, 01:10 AM
Myself I'd first take the FSB up to a reasonable rate then work on the video card for the rest. :smokin:

07-03-2002, 04:27 PM

but have u run 3dmark and see,

which one give more score. the one with high fsb or high display card overclocking.

cause, with high fsb , you cannot push your card clock to the maximum.

just in case i select to oveclock my card first, then increase the fsb, will it give a better results ?

07-03-2002, 05:48 PM
Here's a raw score from my new box: 7813. No tweaks, overclocking, etc.

Here's what's powering the mutha:
Iwill P4D (i845D)
P4 1.6A
Radeon 8500LE
256MB PC2700 DDR (samsung)
In most cases, this thing kicked the ass of my GeForce 3 I overclocked past Ti500 speeds and the T-bird 1.4 I paired it with. I think I should be able to hit 9k with some overclocking here.

07-03-2002, 10:14 PM
Sweet numbers there ML:thumb:

07-04-2002, 01:20 AM
I have yet to do any sort of long term testing, but I have bumped the FSB to 133 and got a score of 9000. I've checked MadOnion's ORB and for the 2100 range, I have the highest score:D

07-04-2002, 05:35 AM
The Radeon's do get some nice 3DM scores...
I can get ~9800 with mine clocked at 310/310 & my XP1700+ clocked to 2000+ levels.
What drivers are you using?

07-04-2002, 12:09 PM
6071's. I haven't started to overclock this thing yet, but I figure I'll be doing so eventually. It's got 3.3ns RAM, so there's room to grow (hopefully w/o modding). I do have some newer drivers I dl'd off ATI's site, but I just am using ones off Windows update (they are the full-blown thing)

I've bumped the CPU up to a 140MHz FSB and got 9217, which is probably running into a bottleneck with the Radeon not overclocked. I know it's not gonna hit 150MHz without jacking the Vcore up waaaaay too high, but I figure 145 could be obtainable.

07-05-2002, 12:23 AM
Try the 6094 (Catalyst) drivers - I ran 3DMark with those drivers for the first time last night - with my CPU @ 1661(151FSB) and video card @ 310/310 and scored a <font size=6>10113</font>
....that's a new high for me :D :D :D

07-05-2002, 09:56 AM
I will try that a little later. I'm trying to find the highest OC that still passes Prime 95 (I'm getting close).

BTW, which tool are you using to OC that 8500?

this is post 666:cackle: :devil win

07-05-2002, 10:28 PM
BTW, which tool are you using to OC that 8500?

I use powerstrip - it works fine.
there are also a couple of more ATi specialized ones available, like Radeonator or Radtweaker - www.Rage3D.com has links

07-06-2002, 10:28 AM
I know that one works, but I'd rather not have to buy a tweaker--unless I'm wrong about it. I'll be checking out Rage3D here. Thanx.

07-12-2002, 01:24 PM
Okay, got the 6094's and OC'd the Radeon to 290/315. I can't get the core to remain stable any higher, but I have a feeling I can push the RAM a little more.

Anyway, my 3DMark 2001SE score is 9952. I want to break 10k, but I don't know if I will or not. Sooo close.

07-12-2002, 09:54 PM

that's still a nice score - but I know what you mean, I was stuck in the mid-to-high 9000's for quite a while too, until some of the faster drivers started coming out

07-13-2002, 12:11 PM
Yeah, just have to wait on drivers. Oh, well, this is the fastest box I own by a wide margin. Hell, I have the two fastest machines in the house anyway out of 7 :geek:

07-13-2002, 08:54 PM
the 6102 driver's are out - they might get you the extra 48 points your looking for...they're beta's - I haven't really investigated them though since I'm happy withe the 6094's right now - and I really don't have time to test out every beta that comes along.
Rage3D has a link - they also have links to some 3rd party modified drivers if you're feeling especially brave.

07-14-2002, 03:54 AM
I might try it out. This isn't my main rig anyway, so if it screws up Windows--oh, well.

07-14-2002, 01:20 PM
Well, I've done a clean install of XP (something happened to come up hosed, and I was planning on doing this anyway) and have got the card up to 290/317 (no artifacting yet) and I finally broke the 10k mark. 10,028 is my final answer. I'm gonna start tweaking around with my memory settings and see what I can get with them. So far so good. I did keep the 6094's though as they seem to be fine.

07-16-2002, 03:26 AM

I just happened to stumble accross this article - it shows how to mod the Vcore & Vmem on Radeon8500's - using only a pencil - appearantly a significant portion of Radeon LE's are purposely supplied with a low voltage - I suppose so that they won't outperform the more expensive Retail versions.
A custom bios flash utility is available too - I might give it a try myself when I get a chance - should help increase the OC by a few MHz.

07-16-2002, 12:26 PM
I'm not getting any artifacting with the RAM now...I'll consider it since I've done the other "pencil trick" on athlons and durons...can't be much harder here.

07-16-2002, 09:11 PM
actually it looks significantly easier than unlocking an AMD processor - at least for those of us with big clumsy fingers :thumb:
OC'ing your video card is not really any different than OC'ing your CPU - if you already get a good OC @ default voltage - imagine what you could get if you bump the voltage up a bit.

07-17-2002, 07:27 AM
Yeah, I'm definitely thinking about it, since it is something that's easy, and I gained about 900 or so points as it stands right now with my current OC. Could bump me higher, and the risk is pretty minimal---good because I'm a weenie when it comes to doing mods to my hardware (besides cases----unless it would be a Lian Li!)

07-19-2002, 04:33 PM
I have finaly gotten myself into the 10k range so im not sure if im going to keep trying to get them any higher? I think im going to wait until Nvidia releases some beter drivers for my card before i go for some more score breaking bench mark binges!! Right now im just happy to be part of the 10k club! Took me three weeks of tweeking on this new gianward 4600 to get the score but i got it and im happy for now! Well my score is below in my sig you can clik on the compare and see it. Sorry no picture of the screen shot but i havent figured out how to put pictures up in here yet???

07-19-2002, 04:50 PM
It's good to hear that ya happy with ya setup there Percadann. :thumb:
Only don't expect to get scores like some of the single CPU jobs do as that's not the reason behind a dual setup as they were designed for stability and heavy work loads. : peace2:

07-19-2002, 09:35 PM
Yes!! I totaly agree with you on that about my scores! I learned that the hard way! When i built this I expected ALL the wrong things out of it! Now that ive had her up for a couple of months now i understand that. I will say at first i was realy bummed agout it but now it dont bother me and im just happy that i can rip a dvd in the back ground while i frg with my fav game or burn a cd what ever i want to do!!All at the same time! Well thx for the responce talk 2 u later.....Perc.................................... .................

Dude ......

I just ran into someone in a forum who just built the same pc as mine part for part damm near he had 1800s and i got 1900s was the only differance realy. Anyway the poor kid had a score of like 8600 or so and was realy upset about it. I tried to ease his mind by telling him what you have told me these last couple of responces. I mean i can see why he would be upset he spent all that money and he wanted to see it get these record breaking scores! I tried to tell him to relax you most likly well get the 10k like i did but he wouldn't listen! I think the only reason I even botherd with the 3dmark was cause of the new ti4600 i added to my setup other than that i have no use for it. I mean sure id like to get a 1200 score but u know it aint going to happen with a dualy and besides if that is what you built one for then you might as well sell it and buy a machine that well put out those scores. I dont think I could ever go back after getting spoiled on this thing!
Hell this is the first time i think ive ever been happy with a setup
and you know how rare that is most of the time ur always wanting to upgrade somthing right? Well dude ill talk 2 you later thx again for ur responce... later...........perc.............................. ...

Is 6300 normal for the kind of system that I have?

07-20-2002, 05:00 AM
Is 6300 normal for the kind of system that I have?

Is that a g-force 3 listed in your sig? well i think the score is about right maybe might get it in the low low 7's if you tweek it a little. I know with my set up and my old G-force 3 card my stock settings with no over clocking at all i was getting a score of 6900 and when i over clocked the G-force 3 card to 240/500 then i got my scores up to about 7400 i think it was? So all in all id still say yes its good score you got there and you might could improve it by a few hundered points if you shut off some back ground programs and a few other tweeks on the card settings in your display settings tab. But always keep in mind that the 3dmark is just a bench program a tool dont confuse it with your real world performance just cause the scores arent as good as the last guys doesnt mean your computers isnt performing good? Did i say that right? Well my point is: its fine to bench your computer everyone does it but dont let that be the only thing you care about!! Hope this helps you out with your score.......... Later perc.......................

07-20-2002, 05:23 AM
IT did help me out alot......so basically with the scores though.....all the people that are getting in the 10k area are running GF4TI4600's and high end athlonxp's? and yes that is a geforce 3 in the signature

07-20-2002, 08:20 AM
Make sure that ya have any unnecessary background processes turned off as these will reduce ya score. ;)

07-20-2002, 11:41 AM
IT did help me out alot......so basically with the scores though.....all the people that are getting in the 10k area are running GF4TI4600's and high end athlonxp's? and yes that is a geforce 3 in the signature

Close! I've seen the Ti42oo even the 64mb ones as well as the 128 model score over the 10k mark !! As far as high end athlons go your t-bird 1400 is a great cpu and i would consider it high end too so your computer specs are fine. I still think you could setle in at around 7200 or so which i think is great for a system like yours. Now a biger video card of course will bring that score even higher.. So if you look at it that way you should be able to get a good idea of the idea of your systems capablitys ... Well like i said before good luck and make sure you post them scores when ur done.. Later dude............. Perc...........

07-23-2002, 10:25 AM
I wouldn't be complaining with that score dude!

07-23-2002, 08:34 PM
Not complaining. It just makes me want a GeForce5, a 2.8 P4 and 2 gigs of 1066 ram to score higher.:rolleyes2

07-25-2002, 04:48 AM
How's 10,614 3DMarks at default settings sound for a newly built system?:hammer:

Everything running at stock speeds at the moment.

07-25-2002, 07:20 AM
;) Sounds great!!

07-25-2002, 07:31 AM

What kind of tweaks have you made drpeterbright, maybe you have some ideas I could try.:geek:

07-25-2002, 07:53 AM
Those are good number PCMKR...i got a 10200 and we have similar system ..so your stuff rocks dude if it was stock!:thumb:

07-25-2002, 08:00 AM
Thanks alot Flaco! :)

Yeah, I'm definitely happy with this system. It's actually the first system I've ever built for myself, and my first computer. I've always had to use my bros PC, but now I finally got my own. Now I can get on his case that his computer sux compared to mine LOL:laugh:

I'm just greedy to get the scores even higher even though this score is awesome :p

Take care man!!

07-25-2002, 08:14 AM
Yea dude no prob you deserve the credit. I mean its your first and you found the ballz to go ahead and build it and have the chance of messing up something instead of go the ez way and buying a name brand one. It being your first its a good one...btw give it a name...mine is the Humming bird cuaz of all the noise the volcano 7+ and the case fans do...

07-25-2002, 08:29 AM
Yeah, I was afraid to turn it on when I finished. When I did, it didn't work right, but I fixed it. I thought I spent all that money for nothing. Check the thread in the cooling section called CPU Too Hot - Please Help - that explains the problems I had. My own fault actually.

I'm not sure what to call my system. It's got lots of fans, hooked into a baybus so I can turn them down at night. It is very loud when all the fans are at full blast. At least it keeps the heat to a minimal:flames:

Later

07-25-2002, 08:31 AM
Tell me about it...i reas that thread...aslong as you got it right at the end....cool deal...keep up the good work...:thumb:

07-25-2002, 08:37 AM
Appreciate it Flaco:D I'll try not to kill it hehe

I'll be posting pics of my system when it's done in the forums, then you can see what the beast looks like.

Take care and see ya around!

Cheers

07-25-2002, 11:23 AM
One tweak that seemed to make a big difference was to increase my AGP aperture to 256 mb. Turning off all unnecessary processes in Windows XP also helped. Just try tuning them all off one by one. I also turned off all of the fancy XP "enhancements" such as menu shadows etc. Be sure to shut off system restore and hibernation as well.

07-25-2002, 12:21 PM
Well I am using Win98 at the moment, even though I will be using WinXP soon. I have used msconfig and unchecked all the unnecessary programs from starting, which is almost everything. I will have to try playing around with the AGP Aperture size though.

Thanks!

07-25-2002, 12:32 PM
I think my size is 64 or 128 does it really improve it when you have it set to 256? I heard that for best results you should use half or a quarter of your physical memory.

07-25-2002, 01:04 PM
Best thing to do would probably be experiment with the Aperture setting and find out what's best for your setup. Make a change and then run a benchmark like 3DMark, then change it and run the benchmark again and find out what gets you the highest score.

07-25-2002, 01:59 PM
Yes do experiment with that as every setup will vary with what's the best one for it. ;)

07-25-2002, 08:45 PM
Hey Flaco,

How bout "The Beast":flames: as a name for my system. Whaddya think?

It is a huge case and does make alot of noise when I crank all the fans up. :p :hammer:

07-26-2002, 01:57 AM
Cool. Possibly "Air Demon"

07-26-2002, 02:13 AM
Hey, who knows, that doesn't sound half bad. It does suck alot of air, reminds me of the wind tunnel I got to play around with at school. :afro: :cackle:

07-26-2002, 03:28 AM
"The Beast" has been used too any times. Air Demon does sound cool...but w/e you like i mean its your rig...:)

07-26-2002, 04:15 AM
I'll have to get back to you on this:D

07-26-2002, 04:27 AM
Wind Tunnel my case IS the wind tunnel.

07-26-2002, 04:37 AM
How many fans you got? :?:

07-26-2002, 04:43 AM
On the Side Panel I have Dual 92MM intake fans at the top I have one 80MM Exaust fan in the front I have dual (?MM) intake fans for the hard drive at the bottom front I have an 80MM intake fan. At the back I have one 80MM exaust fan as well as one exaust fan in the PSU.

Then for the inside its the usual one on video card one on processor one on northbridge. I like to include those.

07-26-2002, 04:49 AM
Yup That'll do the trick! Sounds good:thumb:

Right now I have a 92mm exhaust fan at the top back of the case, 2 80mm exhaust near the proc, power supply fan, 3 80mm intake fans(1 blowing accross the HD) Then I have the vid card fans(2 40mm I think), HSF and a card blower with 2 80mm fans blowing accross the pci/agp slots.
Nothing on my northbridge, although I may change that:hammer:

peace : peace2:

07-26-2002, 05:06 AM
When I took a look at a picture of the 8K3A I noticed that there was no fan on the board. This board actually came out like a week after I bought my 8KHA+. I was actually thinking does the KT333 create less heat then the KT266A?

07-26-2002, 05:09 AM
I'm not sure. Thay said the KT333 chipset northbridge does make less heat and that's why they omitted a fan on the NB heatsink. All I know is I have no stability probs with it ;)

07-26-2002, 05:13 AM
Lets take a look from a physical perspective. A mobo with a fan on it looks more powerful then a board without a fan. Agreed or is it just me.

07-26-2002, 07:34 AM
 AIr Demon is great. How about Thruster or Wind King?

07-26-2002, 08:06 AM
Snap...Wind King is badass...we should make a thread about Rig Names..instead of taking up this thread with it...

07-26-2002, 08:14 AM
I most definitly agree. I want to name my computer something.

07-26-2002, 08:48 AM
Why not just call it the "ReSpAwN DeMoN wiNd TuNNel"? :D

07-26-2002, 09:30 AM
lol that would work too but I want something more GOD LIKE!! know what I mean?

07-26-2002, 10:12 AM
"Wrath of God" maybe? :?:

07-26-2002, 10:56 AM
lol that'l work....now here comes the hard part.....whatever I do decide to name my computer......labling my comptuer is the hard part.

07-26-2002, 11:46 AM
Well ya could make up a stencil to spray paint it on or ya could use those vinyl stick on letters that come in various styles and colours. ;)

07-26-2002, 11:59 AM
Where do I get the vinyl stick on letters?

07-26-2002, 12:13 PM
Well we have a few places here in Australia so I spose ya'd have heaps of places over there in the US. ;)

07-26-2002, 12:41 PM
IC well give me an example I'm thinking like some kind of art place? :?:

07-26-2002, 12:56 PM
Check out places that make signs for ppl like those ones that stick onto vehicle bodies. ;)

07-26-2002, 12:57 PM
uh oh........that means I'll have to deal with people and all the hondas lol........I wonder how many MHz I can get from putting stickers on my computer hmm...something to think about something to think about

07-27-2002, 01:03 AM
Don't forget the V-Tech sticker, that gives you a big speed increase....and also a NOS sticker would give you a speed boost when you really need it

07-27-2002, 01:16 AM
I did some playing around with the AGP aperture size last night and made other tweaks and got my 3DMark 2001SE score up to 10,986 with no overclocking and running 3DMark at default settings. I was able to score that exact same score twice, so I know it's a solid score. I just can't seem to break that 11,000 barrier though. Any ideas how to squeeze 14 more points without overclocking?

I saw some interesting numbers when playing around with the AGP Aperture Size. Here's the results below when running 3DMark for each size setting:

4M - 8,364
8M - 10,723
16M - 10,963
32M - 10,980
64M - 10,958
128M - 10,986
256M - 10,614

Thought you guys might find this interesting or sumthin. :D

Take care!!

07-27-2002, 01:22 AM
 pcmkr - looks like its time to overclock that puppy.

07-27-2002, 04:14 AM
lol the NOS I forgot about that..........ya I need some of those......so far I got my light :D

07-27-2002, 05:28 AM
i get like 1500 but i run a athlon t-bird at 750 with 256 sdram and a hercules prhophet 4500 a seagate 7200rmp 80gigger

07-27-2002, 05:43 AM
Did you enable "Enhance AGP Performance" ...that should break it right at the 11 mark...

07-27-2002, 05:46 AM
I don't remember seeing that anywhere. Where can I go to check that?

07-27-2002, 05:50 AM
brb...lemme go restart and see exactly where its at ok....brb

07-27-2002, 05:56 AM
OK..it in the same place where you arranged your Aperture..like 5 rows down...
Its at Advanced Chipset Features/AGP & P2P Bridge Control/Enhance AGP Perfromance.
That should do it...use your 128 Aperture with this enabled and you will hit your 11 thousand mark.:thumb:

07-27-2002, 06:10 AM
OK I'll have to check that. I won't be able to check for a while since I'm stuck at work now, but I'll see if I can find that when I get a chance.....Thanks!!

07-28-2002, 01:55 AM
NP PCMKR...SoOoOoO did you try it or what?

07-28-2002, 07:04 AM
Didn't get to check it out yet, I've been busy... I'll make sure to let you know what I find though:D

07-28-2002, 12:25 PM
Well I checked my BIOS and didn't find anything for Enhanced AGP Performance, but I did have these settings other than the AGP Aperture under the AGP&P2P Bridge Control settings:

AGP Fast Write
AGP Master 1 WS Write
AGP Master 1 WS Read

These can be either enabled or disabled. Maybe they do the same as enabling Enhance AGP Performance.:) Right now I have them all enabled.

07-29-2002, 02:14 AM
That sure is werid ...well what ever works...works...get that score up baby!

07-29-2002, 06:18 AM
I decided to install the 30.30 drivers and I was able to break the 11,000 mark. I just wanted to see if it was posible to score at least 11,000 3DMarks at default settings without overclocking and it is. My score was 11,002. Pretty close but that works. :D

I think I'm done with tweaking, now it's time for some overclocking :hammer:

07-29-2002, 09:51 PM
:shoot: pcmkr - Shoot for 12,500:crazy:

07-29-2002, 11:07 PM
That'd be nice, we'll just have to see what happens:flames: :afro:

I'll let you know drpeterbright

07-30-2002, 12:44 AM
 Good luck pckkr. Just 500 points a day for 3 days will get you there!

07-30-2002, 01:19 AM
I'm not sure if I wanna try overclocking at the moment. We're having a heat wave up here and my room is hot as an oven! :flames:

And I know blowing already very warm air into my system won't be very effective at cooling it, esp. when overclocking.

07-30-2002, 05:37 AM
How warm is your case ?...and btw congrats on the 11K break you were craving for!:thumb:

07-30-2002, 06:44 AM
 pcmkr - What type of cooling are you using inside your case?

07-30-2002, 06:45 AM
Today my room temp was around 90-95F and the case air temp maxed out at arounf 100F when playing a game. Not too bad for how hot the room was. And the CPU got up to 131F max.

BTW Motherboard Monitor is a great piece of software to monitor system temps, voltages, etc.

Thanks Flaco, it took a while to get there!

07-30-2002, 06:49 AM
90-95????????????? OMG I thought my room was bad!!! Dude is that even safe for you? let alone your computer but for you? lol you can probably (forgot the word when you don't drink enough water?) anyway wow your CPU is really hot. I thought I had it bad lol. On average my room is usually 79-80. On average my CPU is 103-104 and my case on average is 85-86. Sometimes my CPU is as low as 100 and case as low as 84 but sometimes its as high as 109 and case 89. I also use the motherboard monitor, its a great program.

07-30-2002, 07:04 AM
I don't go in my room that much in the summer. I hate it too, my parents got me shacked up in the attack. It's fixed up and everything, but since I'm right under the roof I get all the heat:flames:
My room is really only bearable at night and in the mornings. Nope I don't get dehydrated. That's the word you looking for right?:p
On a cooler day, my CPU will run tops around 105F, somewhere in that range, and case temps are usually mids 80's on a nice day.
Just depends on the weather outside hehe:rolleyes:

07-30-2002, 07:25 AM
yes dehydrated that's the word. I was actually thinking of hyperventalated but then I was like that's lack of breathing

07-30-2002, 07:42 AM
OK here's my cooling setup. Here's the case >> http://www.antec-inc.com/en_fulltower.html

I have:
3 80MM fans pulling air in the front(1 blowing across the HD).
2 80MM fans exhausting air out the back right under the PSU.
1 92MM fan exhausting air out the back above the PSU.
The above fans are all controled with a baybus (off-low-hi)

Then I have a Swiftech MCXC370 Copper HSF with 33cfm Papst fan on my proc.

Then I have a cardcooler(2 80MM fans) blowing across my AGP/PCI slots >>http://www.thecardcooler.com/shopcart/BallBearingCC/bbcardcooler.html with quieter fans.

I also have a TT Hardcano 2, but not cooling any HDs >> http://www.thermaltake.com/products/hdcooler/hdcooler.htm
It doesn't move much air, but the temp sensors are very useful.

I think that's it. It's loud as a windtunnel. What do you think?

07-30-2002, 07:44 AM
Yeah hyperventilating isn't the word for this LOL:laugh:
And I think it's too much oxygen and not lack of breathing :p

07-30-2002, 07:50 AM
lol yap......well lets see here my case just so happens to be a Wind Tunnel Plus. In the front I have one 80MM fan bring cool air in, also in the front I have some cheapo hard drive cooler with dual 30MM fans bring cool air in (I think 30MM). Now at the top I have one 80MM exausting air through the top. In the back I have one 80MM fan exausting air out the back below the PSU and on the side I have dual 92MM fans blasing air all over my cards and mobo and just about everthing. On my processor I have a WBK38. My system is just about as loud as anyone could handle. Its to bad they don't make these things anymore

07-30-2002, 08:30 AM
Got any pics of it?

07-30-2002, 08:33 AM
As a matter of fact I do. Before and after shots of stock vs modded. lol

07-30-2002, 08:57 AM
Good job!:thumb:
I see you cleaned up the wires nicely with some spiral wrap.
That many fans just gets loud, but good speakers can overcome the noise hehehe:cackle:

07-30-2002, 09:02 AM
lol yup.......and I got some good speakers.......but actually when your running my case for as long as I have (about a year) you pretty much get used to the sound. Other people that get on my computer they think its loud as hell and I'm like oh ok. whats really cool though is at lan parties I have a friend with the exact same case. it really looks cool to see them operating side by side.

07-30-2002, 09:24 AM
pcmkr - Install a room ac in the attic before you and your machine are toast. Anyone with as many fans in their rig as you have must post a picture for us to see.

:flames: :flames: :flames: :flames: :flames: :flames: :flames:

07-30-2002, 09:24 AM
OUCH..just had a brain freeze with a shake...anyways...yea us Florida natives like RD and myself get kinda hot..but i never thought you be worse than us...tho down here we get alot of humidity...ALOT...very sticky...

07-30-2002, 09:32 AM
In short terms it's really ucky up here right now. Heat waves on the East coast are the worst.

I would get an AC for my room, but then my parents say they're gonna make me pay the electric bill, errr. I can't win.

I did take some pics with my SLR 35MM camera, but have to finish the roll and get them developed. I'm old fashioned. I need to get myself a digital camera.

07-30-2002, 09:39 AM
:flames: :flames: :flames: :flames: :flames:

pcmkr - If you just run the ac when benchmarking your overclocks, the bill won't be much. You could use a special duct to direct the cold air directly into the case.
