Best Linux version

There are waaayyy too many versions of linux to choose from and all the websites seem to advertise different strengths for each. What version do you think is best and why...?

From beginers to pro's, Lycoris, Mandrake, Redhat then Slackware bein' the main ones with the rest scattered in between but they're all an education (well to me anyway).

Slackware 9.0 and Mandrake 9.0 are very good distros. However, Mandrake 9.1 sucks because of its seriously flawed Internet configuration wizard.
