I was checking out SETIwatch, and I thought this was odd, My times range from 4hrs, to 5.5hrs, but the P4 is 4-6hrs, wityh a few REALLY quick times. Heres the stats on the two machinces.

PCChips mobo, 2100+, 512mb pc133
Intel mobo, P4 1.8 400fsb, (2) 256mb pc2100
AMD slowest http://www.ccrtc.com/members/amd_man/amdslow.JPG P4 Slowest http://www.ccrtc.com/members/amd_man/p4slow.JPG
AMD quickest http://www.ccrtc.com/members/amd_man/amdquick.JPG P4 quikest http://www.ccrtc.com/members/amd_man/p4quick.JPG
BTW, I have no idea where the 20sec wu came in at, or how it happened! (amd quickest)

any explanations for this? And why does my 2100+ with sdram keep up with heres, when shes got DDR?

It has to do with units with data that the [email protected] believe is contaminated with false data. The program is designed to kick the unit out quickly.

For more info., see Item 1., under Performance and credit, on the Frequently Asked Questions about [email protected] (http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/faq.html) webpage.

Well done picking that up. :thumb:

Also I've posted somewhere else here that P4 architecture is not the best for runnin' SETI on which comes down to the better IPC and 3 FPU's that the Athlon has over the P4.
