  • Daughter's Wrecked Honda Civic EX

Here are some pics of my daughter's car after her one-car accident. (The bumper is sitting on the windshield.)

She and her friend, luckily, are ok.

Will post pics of her new one as soon as we take 'em.

The wife got a new one this month, too!

Ok... This occured on Tamiami Trail, one of the most dangerous two-lane roads in South Florida, which heads due west from Miami to the west coast of the State. On the return trip, during the middle of a Sunday afternoon, she absent-mindedly drove off the road to the right, (that's the same side as the direction of travel for those of you who live in countries that drive on the left side of the road) swerved left to miss a sign and then shot across the 2 lanes and smacked into the guardrail on the other side of the road, continued spinning 180 degrees and ended half on and half off the road on the wrong side.

Her friend was taken by helicopter the Jackson Memorial Hospital, but was released by 9:00 PM that evening and my daughter was taken by ambulance to another hospital and was released by about 9:30. Needless to say, the accident ruined an otherwise uneventful outing to a picturesque part of Florida.

She was very lucky for 2 things: 1) there was no on-coming traffic to have a head-on collision with and 2) the guardrail prevented them from entering the drainage canal, which they probably would have drowned in. Not to mention the occasional alligator they might have encountered!

        We're still counting our blessings....

Yes, you're right. We credit the wearing of seatbelts, something I have always advocated, and of course a lot of luck. They each had one an over their heads.
