linux on a 486 to build a picture site on the internet, how

I was searching for something to do with my old 486 and his little 1 gig HD, i will be behind a router with adsl internet acces and i want to turn this old pc into a picture server for internet, saving my pictures, those of my Girlfriend and my friends.
I want to know what linux distro i should use to save disk space and what program to share my pictures.
(a program taht does a http site and shows my pictures, not ftp)
