I'm using RH9 and I have the security settings on high using the default firewall rules, I was wondering if I need to install an additional software firewall, and if so what should I use? Thx guys

if you are already on high security settings but if even then you want to try a software firewall then you should start with firestarter (more of a GNOME app but works on KDE too) or guarddog (reverse of firestarter...KDE app) but keep only one at a time. if you want any of the software firewalls, then you should switch off the default one.

yes iptables are pretty powerful but working with them is not very easy for newbies.
Shorewall (http://shorewall.sourceforge.net/) provides a nice easy to user-interface to work with iptables.
