will media player play a avi file. my old player would play these files but i upgraded to player 9 now they wont play. what gives.THANKS BUDDY

most prolly you have a .avi file encoded with a codec that is not installed on your PC.
conect to internet while playing the file and media player will install required codecs itself.
if you have a firewall then don't block the media player from trying to connect to net.

one .avi file can contain more than one audio video format and you need all the codecs to play the file.

Plz n e 1! How can I completely uninstall Windows media player in XP. I don't want it and besides any time I use it it freezes pc. While on subject removing msn messenger also. Ta very much!
