  • any point going a ddr duron

i was just wondering is there any point of going for a for example
1.2ghz amd duron with DDR or will the performance be not that better than with SD.

    thanx

Yes there is, because even tho a Duron is considered a slow processor, it is still much MUCH faster than the memory/system bus, so boosting the latter will result in a performance increase. Also, if you go the DDR route you leave yourself open to further upgrading possibilities in future that will not cripple performance.

If you went for a duron + DDR, and the motherboard can also support XP CPU's, then go for it. when you decide to upgrade to an Athlon XP, then it's as simple as anything.

I would deffinately go with DDR for the extra performance.
Also make sure that you at least get PC2100 ram too.

Yes - but currently DDR is as dear as poison - so SDRAM may be a better option if money is tight :(

But if you're prepared to spend the extra $$$ - DDR is the way to go :thumb:

DDR definitely helps the Duron. I was running a Duron 800 OC'd to 1074MHz and I could definitely tell I had a major performance boost from it besides the overclocking.
