for now i'm using KDE 3.1 because i was told it was the easiest interface. ksensors kept giving me errors while i was trying to install it

You need to install and configure the latest lm_sensors package (along with the matching i2c package(i2c first)) from the lm_sensors homepage (http://www2.lm-sensors.nu/~lm78/) before you build and install either ksensors or gkrellm.
