  • Using PC2700 with I845D Chipset

Hi! Can someone please advise how PC2700 DDR memories can be used on a mobo with i845D chipsets? I have seen test setups in some reviews having this config. However, I thought i845D can only support upto PC2100. Thanks!

Nearly all motherboards (there are a few exceptions) can use memory rated above that recommended though it will still act at the lower rate required. The main gain in usin' these higher spec modules is when overclocking the FSB as this (in most cases) also overclocks the memory which when usin' the higher spec modules means that your memory is not going to be a limiting factor. ;)

Will my motherboard as shown in the sig also support it?

Yes it will but whether it will be of any use to you is another thing entirely. :smokin:

Also remember that your ECS board will work with one type of memory or the other. It cannot function with both PC133 and DDR memory in the system.
