  • agp settings problem with gf fx 5200 HELP!

Hi. i got a gf fx 5200 128 meg ddr a while back and just recently i was going through the properties for it when i got to "AGP settings" it was on 1x the bar went up to 4x, as soon i put it to 4x and clicked on apply, my comp rebooted... what does this mean.. my mobo and os supports 4x agp i have the latest fx drivers.. i also went into my bios to check if my agp 4x was enabled.. and it was. i also selected "AGP bios" instead of VGA bios. I thought that was the problem , but whe i put it on 4x agp again and clicked apply my comp rebooted. Any reason why it should do this? i have the latest inf drivers and update agp to 4x btw

    the comps a p3 1.2 with 256 sd ram
heres a screen shot of a couple of things :

any suggestions or help would be greatly appriciated..
    Thank you

Some more system specs would help.
Would you happen to have a via chipset? I am guessing since you have pIII that you do. That happens with nvidia drivers on apollo pro133 chipsets 90+% of the time. And can happen with newer via chipsets as well, but not very common, like 5-10%.
Riva tuner has a fix for the via/nvidia bug as well the same fix applies to all socket7 mobo's which does not not apply to you. Usually this problem only makes it go to 2x agp but you got it bad.

Completely remove and reinstall the drivers first. Do not use coolbits with rivatuner, it can cause issues sometimes.

    download rivatuner 2.0 rc14.1

Oh, why are you runnin at 16bit colour?
That black desktop will not make your gfx faster or better, it's mostly a myth and can affect something like a p233 or less.

Ok, maybe I was not clear enough about system specs. Socket 370 pIII and family are my specialty. Ok your board has an intel 815eb chipset, those can have issues, do you have the proper chipset drivers installed? That should be the first thing to do after a reformat.latest intel chipset software utility
Your bios version is quite old(1003). Version 1009 may have a fix for agp issues. Try everything else first unless you are comfortable doing a bios update, it has risks. Did you know that you have usb 2.0 on that board? That was one of if not the first board to have it. Bonus. The chipset drivers should include usb 2.0 support drivers.
Remember, coolbits may bug out rivatuner. Try the agp 4x fix anyway even though it was mostly meant for via, it's just a regestry value anyway and is not via specific.
Sandra utilities is great for telling you everything about your setup. Sandra 2004

If you post more photos, make them dialup friendly. I have cable but some do not have high speed available in their areas yet.

Notice my sig at the bottom of every post, put your specs there using the user cp button at the top of the page. Also edit your location there as well.

        Hope it's fixed now.
