I just installed Mandrake Linux 8.1 to dual-boot with Windows 2000 Professional and I am rather impressed.

It consisted of three 640M ISO files which I downloaded from the AARnet website and burned onto CD.

Let me give you some background on a few Distros i think would be quite fit for people new to the Linux scene...

                  MANDRAKE - http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/
Mandrake can be compared to Windows ME or Windows XP, its not crippled, but it is VERY user firendly

                  RED HAT - http://www.redhat.com/
Red Hat linux is very versitile, it can be used from workstations to servers. It is mostly GUI and Mandrake is based upon this Linux Distrobution.

                  Redmond Linux - http://www.gui-lords.org/article.php...thread&order=0
This Distro is DEFINATELY totally for a complete newbie. It is almost as noobish as WinXP. It wont allow you to login to root from GUI (rumor, havent tried myself).

I hope i have been a little bit of help, if you need more help on making your decision or on installation, contact me, ill be glad to help.
