Would setting Anti aliasing and Anistrophic filtering to MAX in the Ati Control Panel affect benchmark results from programs such as Aquamark and 3dMark03? I just ran both and got some really low scores. I thought the benchmarks would revert the AA and AF back to normal settings was ran, but I guess this isn't the case?

Specs :

Athlon +2500 running at +3200
ATI AIW 9800 PRO 128mb
2x256 HyperX Kingston PC3200 2-3-2-5
Asus A7N8X-Deluxe Rev2
Maxtor 80gig 7200rpm 8mb

3DMark03 score was around 2100..

No, it will have those on when you run the benchmarks.

Personally, I like to play with everything like that disabled for maximum performance, but whatever makes you happy, I guess.

Actaully it does, when you enable it in Ati panel and benchmark it does lower the scores. Seranox, for 3dmark01 they do not turn on any AA or AF, but for Aqua3, they turn on only AF and not AA, so leave everything off when you are benching. :thumb:

thanks for clearing that up...does this apply to 3dmark03 as well because the scores are alot lower than I expected it to be with my hardware...

For every kind of bench mark...leave AA and AF off.

Yes AsianBatman is right, for maximum performance set your driver settings to
0x AA and 0x AF, the setting in the benchmarking application however should always be default.

(some benchmark apps use AA/AF and others don't)

Oh and if you want higher scores then tweak your os, it makes more difference than people think. :)
