  • Abit KD7E not even booting to POST

I have an Abit KD7E with an Athlon XP processor. It has been working fine until the other day. I push the power button and it runs the fans about 2-3 seconds and then powers off. you have to wait a while before you can try it again, as it is like there is NO power to the computer.

I tried a different power supply, a different CPU, even took out the PCI modem and sound card. Won't boot to the POST part or BIOS.

Now I'm wondering if there may be a problem with the motherboard... perhaps the capacitors near the CPU?? I reset the BIOS in case there was a conflict somewhere. But to start and run for 3 seconds and then to not be able to start again for a while, is really odd.

    Clues???
