Maxtor 160GB 5400RPM ATA-133 drives are now $599 at CWS. That's under $3.75 per gigabyte!

Well from Maxtor's site it looks as if this drive has 40GB/platter capacity, at 5400RPM this would stomp all over 7200RPM Drives with a 20GB/platter capacity :)

They haven't gone to 40GB/platter in 7200RPM yet because of the very fine engineering needed to make the drives - it is possible but who wants to buy a A$2,000 Hard Drive? :confused:

I have come across several companies that won't touch anything but SCSI hard drives - and they're more than prepared to pay for them :eek:
